Application Engineer - Electrical Markets

Job Description:

Lead technical programs that drive application development and product innovation in electrical markets. Work closely with customers, sales teams, and global experts to identify new opportunities, validate solutions, and strengthen 3M’s position in medium and high voltage cable accessories.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new product applications through customer engagement, technical presentations, and field trials

• Lead application development and product improvement initiatives for medium and high voltage cable accessories

• Provide technical support and technical marketing to utilities and industrial customers

• Plan and execute field trials, pre-qualification, and product validation with key accounts

• Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations on joints and terminations

• Coordinate with external laboratories for type testing and certification

• Deliver product and application training to internal teams, distributors, and end users

• Support new product introductions, including qualification, documentation, and customized solutions (BOM, installation methods)

• Perform competitive analysis and define clear value propositions for 3M solutions

• Build industry presence through technical papers, presentations, and participation in professional bodies

• Collaborate with business and global teams to identify growth opportunities and drive market adoption

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

• Minimum 5 years of experience in power engineering; MV/HV cable accessories experience preferred

• Strong knowledge of power distribution and transmission systems (cables, switchgear, transformers)

• Hands-on experience with installation, testing, or troubleshooting of cable accessories

• Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills

• Self-driven, practical, and able to lead technical initiatives independently

• Valid driving license and willingness to travel for field work
