Associate Director, Digital Transformation

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a strong Associate Director of Digital Transformation to join our team and drive exceptional project governance and decision making across our projects. In this role, you will partner with the Director of Digital Transformation Platform Enablement to drive governance and decision-making across the capital portfolio. You will oversee portfolio health, strategic alignment, and financial performance while mentoring Project Managers to build organizational capability and resilience. You will work with Project Managers to identify at-risk initiatives early, develop strategies to improve project health, and restore troubled projects to success. As a dynamic leader, you will bring governance and rigour to our organization, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

What will you do?

Portfolio Governance & Reporting

• Implement and maintain a standard, transparent view of portfolio status, risks, and dependencies using enterprise tools
• Prepare executive-level material that showcase the health of the portfolio of projects and that drive informed decision-making
• Assess alignment of projects with organizational goals, strategic priorities, and the COO Group's multi-year technology roadmap, ensuring strategic cohesion across all initiatives
• Articulate how our technology investments enable the COO Group's strategic roadmap, communicating clear articulation of ROI and business cases to executive stakeholders
• Support executive-level decision-making on capital allocation by providing rigorous analysis, business justification, and strategic context for investment recommendations

Project Support & Risk Recovery

• Collaborate with Project Managers across the portfolio to assess project health and identify at-risk initiatives early, taking a proactive approach to risk mitigation
• Partner directly with project teams to diagnose root causes of delays, scope creep, and resource constraints, demonstrating hands-on leadership and problem-solving expertise
• Co-create action plans with Project Managers to restore troubled projects to health, driving accountability and positive outcomes
• Mentor and support Project Managers with passion and commitment, sharing best practices in risk mitigation, delivery execution, and leadership excellence to strengthen organizational capability
• Model and promote a culture of transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all project teams
• Foster cross-functional collaboration and knowledge-sharing to elevate overall project delivery standards

Financial & Budget Management

• Monitor and manage the aggregate financial performance and budget of the portfolio with precision and foresight
• Track forecasts against budget and ensure capital is deployed efficiently and strategically across all initiatives
• Identify budget variances, overruns, or funding gaps early and take decisive corrective action
• Escalate unbalanced budgets or severe financial risks to executive stakeholders with clear, actionable recommendations

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

• Experience: 7+ years in project or portfolio management with a demonstrated track record of implementing program governance
• Business Acumen: 5+ years of experience in Capital Markets with strong understanding of operational processes
• Leadership: Exceptional ability to coach, mentor, and inspire Project Managers without direct line authority, fostering a high-performance positive team culture
• Communication: Exceptional stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and escalation skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels. Proven experience building presentation material for executive-level audiences and articulating complex strategic initiatives to senior leadership
