Your team

The Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) team is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of BlackRock's index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver precise investment outcomes and innovative alpha insights. The team constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole-portfolio solutions across a broad spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions for wealth and institutional clients. MASS manages more than $1 trillion in assets and maintains a strong presence across the United States, Europe, and Asia Pacific. Your role and impact

The MASS Portfolio Management team is seeking a highly motivated professional with a strong financial and technical background to help enhance the investment process and investment platform supporting model portfolios. As the business continues to expand, this role offers the opportunity to influence portfolio management practices, improve technology-enabled investment workflows, and contribute to scalable portfolio solutions. The successful candidate will bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for financial markets across asset classes, while partnering closely with investment, risk, analytics, data, and platform teams.


Your responsibilities

In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:

  • Manage multi-asset model portfolios comprised of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and mutual funds and/or global single-name physical equity portfolios.
  • Perform daily fund management activities, including implementing investment strategies, portfolio rebalancing, and performance attribution.
  • Ensure mandates align with performance expectations, investment guidelines, risk parameters, and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize technology and analytical tools to improve processes and support business scalability.
  • Build processes that address investment challenges and integrate with existing BlackRock infrastructure, including Aladdin.
  • Partner with analytics, risk, data, and platform teams to enhance systems, investment processes, and trading workflows.
  • Explore and apply artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning techniques, including prompt engineering, to improve scalable analytics and streamline processes.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers to translate investment workflows into scalable technology solutions that mitigate risk and improve operational efficiency.

Your experience

  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as Physics, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating a strong interest in investing.
  • Understanding of portfolio construction and quantitative concepts including risk and exposure management, optimization, beta hedging, foreign exchange hedging, and risk and performance attribution.
  • Experience developing AI-enabled tools combined with academic or professional experience in quantitative finance and portfolio management.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple portfolio types and activities while maintaining a strong focus on operational risk.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities, including identifying issues, seeking input from stakeholders, driving resolutions, and implementing process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present to internal and external audiences and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Proficiency in Python and Structured Query Language (SQL); experience with additional programming languages is beneficial.

For San Francisco, CA Only the salary range for this position is USD$116,000.00 - USD$155,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
