About this role:
The Chief Operating Office Technology (COO Tech) organization provides technology services for the Chief Operating Office. This includes operations, control executives, strategic execution, business continuity and resiliency, data solutions and services, regulatory relations, customer experience, enterprise shared services, supply chain management, and the Corporate Properties Group. COO Technology provides technology solutions and manages application portfolios for these groups to support modernization and optimization. CAO Technology is the dedicated technology team supporting Corporate Properties, Corporate Security, Supply Chain Management, Enterprise Resiliency, Privacy, and CAO Data and Insights technology needs.
Within COO Technology, we are seeking a Lead Specialty SAP Software Engineer Configurator to join the CAO (Chief Administration Office) Technology team to support Corporate Properties Group (CPG), aligned to the CAO, and its SAP S/4HANA transformation. This role will design, develop, configure, and deliver SAP S/4HANA Finance solutions supporting finance, accounting, capital project, asset management, and real estate business processes.
In this role, you will:
- Lead complex, enterprise-wide SAP S/4HANA Finance initiatives by defining strategy, evaluating options, and delivering scalable, long-term solutions aligned with business objectives, governance, security, and compliance standards
- Serve as a trusted SAP S/4HANA Finance subject matter expert, providing best-practice guidance across Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Asset Accounting (AA), Profitability Analysis (CO-PA / Margin Analysis), Project Systems (PS), and related Corporate Real Estate finance processes
- Design and architect end-to-end SAP solutions, including business workflows, financial processes, accounting structures, data flow models, APIs, BAPIs, reports, and integrations across SAP modules, internal systems, SaaS platforms, and external partners
- Perform hands-on functional engineering by designing, configuring, testing, debugging, documenting, and supporting SAP functionality, integrations, reports, conversions, and Embedded IT controls
- Lead finance integration design and delivery, including synchronous and asynchronous patterns, data transformations, resiliency, APIs, messaging, event-based processing, and troubleshooting complex cross-application integration issues
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Accounting, Corporate Real Estate, Capital Projects, and cross-functional technology teams to gather requirements, translate business needs into functional specifications, and design integrated end-to-end business processes
- Support SAP S/4HANA transformation activities, including fit-to-standard workshops, solution design, configuration governance, data conversion validation, testing, cutover planning, deployment readiness, and hypercare support
- Lead quality and delivery execution, including testing strategy, configuration and design reviews, reconciliations, defect management, and business validation to ensure solutions meet business needs and delivery commitments
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship by guiding engineers and functional teams, reviewing designs, and coaching on SAP Finance modules, integration patterns, testing, configuration, controls, and data best practices
- Assess and champion emerging technologies and innovations to automate processes, improve financial transparency, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen Embedded IT as a shared services provider
- Engage with senior leaders, architects, vendors, system integrators, and technical experts to resolve complex platform and integration challenges and influence technology direction
- Develop and deliver enablement materials, including documentation, training, operational procedures, and knowledge transfer for end users and support teams
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 5+ years of technology delivery and relationship management experience with small and large business units in a large corporate environment
- 5+ years of hands-on SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA configuration experience supporting enterprise Finance business processes
- 5+ years of hands-on SAP S/4HANA Finance (FICO) configuration and solution delivery experience across core financial accounting, controlling, asset accounting, profitability analysis, product costing, and financial close and reporting processes
- 5+ years of experience designing, configuring, testing, and supporting financial accounting, controlling, reporting, reconciliation, month-end close, quarter-end close, and year-end close processes
- 5+ years of hands-on configuration experience with SAP data integration solutions, including asynchronous, synchronous, real-time streaming, messaging, event-based processing, REST APIs, ETL, and ELT across on-premises, custom, COTS, SaaS, and cloud-native solutions
- 5+ years of experience supporting large-scale SAP implementation, modernization, or transformation initiatives
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong consulting, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, support global and hybrid teams, and translate complex technical concepts for business audiences
- Experience working with system integrators, enterprise architects, governance teams, and executive stakeholders in large-scale transformation programs
- Strong functional SAP experience with Project Systems (PS), Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management (EPPM), Capital Project Accounting, Investment Management, project budgeting, settlements, and capitalization processes
- Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA transformation programs, including fit-to-standard workshops, solution design, data migration, testing, cutover planning, deployment, and hypercare activities
- Experience supporting lease accounting and regulatory requirements, including FASB 842 and IFRS 16 compliance
- Experience in financial services and commercial real estate technology, including platforms supporting lease management, capital planning, transaction management, and real estate accounting and valuation
- Experience across the modern SAP ecosystem, including BTP, Fiori, Workflow, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC), and exposure to RISE, GRC, MDG, ARIBA, and SAP Integration Suite
- Proven experience with enterprise data and integrations, including canonical data models, APIs, microservices, service-to-service communication, Databricks, Data Lakes, and modern data platforms
Job Expectations:
- This position offers a hybrid work schedule
- Must be able to work on-site at the listed location minimum of 3 days/week
