Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for an Engineering and Operations Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a fast paced technology company and a leader in the world of data centers. The Engineering and Operations Technician is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. The Engineering and Operations Technician serves as a technical resource to support Amazon within its data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. Engineering and Operations Technician’s are also tasked with driving innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities. Engineering and Operations Technician’s are Amazon’s front line respondents for electrical and mechanical issued affecting Amazon's availability. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, switchboards/switch-gears, UPS’s, PDU’s, AHU’s, CRAHUs, CRAC's, pumps, motors, VFD’s, and building automation systems.

This position requires that the candidate selected obtain and maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada.

Le technicien d’exploitation de centres de données a également la responsabilité de réduire les coûts d’exploitation des installations grâce à des solutions innovatrices. Le technicien d’exploitation de centres de données est le premier intervenant dans les cas de problèmes électriques et mécaniques touchant la disponibilité des services Amazon. Ces équipements comprennent, sans toutefois s’y limiter, les génératrices de secours et les systèmes de carburant connexes, les armoires de distribution électrique et de commutation, les systèmes d’alimentation sans coupure (UPS), les panneaux de distribution électrique (PDU), les unités de ventilation et de climatisation (AHU, CRAH, CRAC), les pompes, les moteurs, les variateurs de fréquence (VFD) et les systèmes immotiques.

Ce poste exige que le candidat sélectionné obtienne et conserve une cote de sécurité active du statut de fiabilité auprès du gouvernement du Canada.

Basic qualifications

- 2+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience in relevant work
- Can bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working
- Can use hands to manipulate small wires and objects
- Can walk on job sites in uneven terrain
- Can work at heights and from ladders
- Work shifts longer than eight hours in duration

Preferred qualifications

- 4+ years of data center engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in data center engineering
- Can perform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tired

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life & AD&D insurance), Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and other resources to improve health and well-being.
