About the role:

As the Data Science Manager, your role is to execute and oversee the development of data science and AI use cases within the Enterprise Data &Analytics (ED&A) department, in support of the enterprise wide Data and AI Strategy across Qatar Airways. The role involves leading the application of advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI techniques to deliver actionable insights that inform strategic and operational decisions within Enterprise Data Analytics Department. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for data-driven innovation, oversee the development of intelligent solutions, and contribute to the airline’s digital transformation journey. Additionally, you will oversee development and maintenance of predictive models and AI systems that enhance performance and efficiency across multiple business domains under ED&A.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational

• Contribute to shaping the data science and AI roadmap for the ED&A department, ensuring use cases are aligned with enterprise strategy and business priorities.
• Execute and oversee the development and delivery of data science and AI use cases for all assigned portfolios within the ED&A department.
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, and enrichment across datasets within the scope of ED&A responsibilities.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for AI and data modeling initiatives across ED&A portfolios.
• Design and implement AI models and algorithms to automate analytics processes and identify trends, risks, and anomalies.
• Develop and maintain scalable data models that enable planning, forecasting, and reporting for various business domains.
• Facilitate effective communication between data engineering teams and portfolio stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.
• Deliver actionable analysis based on AI outputs and data models to inform business strategies and portfolio objectives.
• Continuously improve existing models and analytical tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Ensure timely and prioritized deliverables by applying agile methodology.
• Proactively identify opportunities for innovation, optimization, and value creation across all ED&A portfolios.
• Perform other department duties related to his / her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Management & Leadership

• Establish the department or teams objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives.
• Regularly evaluate the department or teams objectives, plans, procedures and practices, and makes appropriate changes if needed.
• Oversee and supervise employees. Direct daily activities, recruit, train, develop and discipline to ensure a high standard of service delivery.
• Train and develop other employees, to ensure succession planning is in place.
• To be committed and contribute to the National talent development, by coaching the national developees, preparing them for a career with boundless potential. Leading to the program’s continued growth and success.

Qualification

About You

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 6 years of job-related experience

• Experience in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, with a proven track record of leading, developing, and overseeing the delivery of AI and data science initiatives and use cases.

• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and other relevant programming languages for data analysis, machine learning, AI model development, and data processing, with hands-on experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services for designing, developing, and deploying scalable AI and data science solutions.

• Proven ability to identify, prioritize, and oversee AI use cases end-to-end, optimizing business processes and delivering measurable business value through data-driven solutions.

• Demonstrated experience in managing, processing, and analyzing large and complex datasets, leveraging advanced analytical techniques to generate insights and support strategic decision-making.
