Role Overview
The Digital Partnerships team, South Asia, is looking for a Director, Business Development for the Digital Partnerships vertical, based in Bengaluru, India.
The role is responsible for managing key strategic partnerships across the digital ecosystem, including Tech Giants, Wallets, Marketplaces, Gig Economy, OTT, Fintech, and other emerging digital businesses.
Role
The role would require the candidate to:
• Position Mastercard as a preferred strategic technology and business partner.
• Partner on and execute large-scale, complex, competitive commercial partnerships and strategic initiatives across multiple product domains.
• Provide thought leadership while managing expectations across local and global teams and partner organizations.
The KPIs for the individual and the team are focused on deepening business relationships across the digital ecosystem and delivering top- and bottom-line objectives across multiple product lines.
Key Responsibilities
Partnership Management
• Manage multiple relationships locally and globally, both internally and externally, while executing across the digital ecosystem.
New Business Development
• Identify and develop business opportunities across domains and at varying scales, with a keen eye for sensing, reaching out to, and prioritizing potential opportunities.
• These opportunities exist within both existing and new partnerships, with performance measured through share gain and profitable business growth.
C-Suite & Multi-Domain Engagement
• Engage with founders and senior management across Partnerships, Product & Technology, and Finance functions to help them understand and appreciate Mastercard's suite of products and services.
• Partner across teams to enable seamless and secure payments for customers while supporting business growth across diverse product lines.
Commercial & Legal
• Lead extensive business modelling efforts and partner internally with local and regional Finance teams in managing P&Ls and engaging with Legal teams to draft and execute contracts.
• Negotiate complex contracts while managing expectations and creating mutually beneficial outcomes for all parties.
Cross-Functional Engagement
• Collaborate with cross-functional team members and country teams across domains to plan and execute account-level product and business plans.
All About You
1. Someone who has a keen interest in the digital payment’s ecosystem in India, with strong written and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to articulate a data-backed point of view.
2. Experience in digital payments, lending, digital shopping, technology, enterprise sales, consulting, payment product management, cloud business, start-ups, or Fintech ecosystems. Existing relationships across relevant digital partner verticals in India would be an added advantage. Business development experience is a must.
3. Sound techno-commercial acumen and a strong understanding of key digital verticals and market dynamics.
4. An established track record of achieving quantitative targets and building strong business relationships. Comfortable operating both independently and as part of a team, with the ability to build business partnerships from the ground up and a willingness to get hands-on.
5. Demonstrated success in introducing existing and new/emerging digital and Fintech solutions into various markets and segments and driving increased penetration with clients.
