We’re scaling our same-day delivery network across the EU and we need the right people to help us run it successfully. As the network grows, protecting customer promise around the clock becomes critical. That’s where you come in.
As EU Speed Initiative Manager in Central Operations, you will own the operational improvements across the entire same-day delivery network. You will lead the team to identify and resolve operational exceptions before they impact customers, and act as the single point of accountability for new initiatives. You will manage and launch new initiatives, improve current operations, and work closely with site operators and cross-functional stakeholders to protect on-time delivery and customer experience performance.
We’re looking for individuals who can collaborate effectively with diverse teams, make informed decisions in ambiguous situations, and take ownership of outcomes. You’ll be part of a team that is building the operational backbone for Amazon’s next-generation delivery network, partnering across EU markets every single shift.

Key job responsibilities
Amazon is building the largest same-day delivery network in Europe — and it's scaling rapidly. The network is expanding across the continent at pace, bringing same-day delivery to millions more customers across multiple European markets. This is one of the most complex logistics transformations happening anywhere in the world right now.
Central Operations is the strategic planning hub powering this network — a high-impact function that provides real-time intelligence, capacity strategy, and performance governance across every market. We define how the European network operates, setting the standards, building the technology, and designing the frameworks that enable consistent, high-quality execution at continental scale.
We're looking for an EU Central Operations Speed Strategy Lead — a senior individual contributor who will own the end-to-end operational strategy for the most complex and high-visibility initiatives shaping the future of Amazon's European last-mile network. The objective is to help and enable our partners and operation sites to become the fastest delivery network. For this, we need you to work with the program team to define the north start of our operations and, in parallel, work with our team to build new tools, processes, metrics. You will be the single-threaded owner in our team of how these initiatives are conceived, designed, and operationalized at scale.
This is not a coordination role. This is a role for a deep strategic thinker who operates with the autonomy, judgement, and influence to shape multi-year network decisions. You will define the "how" and the "what" for initiatives that don't yet have a playbook — building the operational architecture from first principles, influencing senior leadership, and setting the standard that the network will follow.
Why This Role
• You will own the operational strategy for Amazon's most transformative EU initiatives. When a new Same Day dedicated building type launches in a European market, you will have defined the operating model, capacity framework, and integration architecture that will operate the intra week planning. When the next generation of robotics-enabled fulfilment sites transitions into the AMZL network, your design will determine how Central Operations governs and optimizes them on short term planning and for daily operations.
• You will operate with principal-level scope and autonomy. You won't wait for direction — you will set it. You will independently identify the strategic questions that need answering, frame the problem, build the analytical case, and deliver recommendations that shape investment decisions and network design choices at the highest levels.
• You will be the technical and strategic Person of Contact within our organization (CO). Teams across planning, engineering, technology, site operations, and senior leadership will look to you as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for our organizations inputs on how new network concepts should be operationalized.
• You will build what doesn't exist yet. There is no established playbook for many of the initiatives you'll lead. You will create the frameworks, models, and standards from scratch — and they will become the foundation for how Last Mile scales its fastest-growing EU network.
• You will sit at the intersection of strategy, technology, and operations design. The team builds proprietary real-time optimization platforms. You'll define the strategic requirements that shape what gets built, influence the technology roadmap, and ensure operational strategy and tooling evolve together.

A day in the life
Your morning starts with a deep review of the latest data from the SSD dedicated building pilot you designed the operational model for — the results are outperforming projections, and you're refining the blueprint before recommending full EU rollout to senior leadership. By mid-morning, you're leading a strategic design session on the operational integration of a new robotics-enabled fulfilment concept, working through the capacity model and governance framework with engineering and planning teams. Over lunch, you're drafting the operational architecture document for a new Last Mile dispatch Program — a first-principles analysis that will define how this initiative operates across four European markets.
Every day is different. But every day, you're defining the operational future of Amazon's European delivery network.

About the team
Central Operations is a new approach within Amazon Logistics to define a scalable solution to run the increasingly complex and growing last-mile delivery network. Central Operations is a key strategic initiative with a vision to transform the way Amazon Logistics executes forecasting, route planning, demand scheduling, and last-mile delivery.
We are looking for an Operations Manager with a track record of operational excellence to drive scalability, ensuring strong processes and culture are developed. This person will lead a team that operates in areas of the business with a high degree of ambiguity that require thought leadership. The role will provide opportunities to think big, develop original ideas, and partner with Planning, Transportation, Last Mile Technology, Operations, and business expansion teams to develop a strategic approach to scale Central Operations.

Basic qualifications

- Experience in program management, logistics, operations, supply chain, transportation, or equivalent
- Master's degree or equivalent in Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or experience with SQL
- Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
- Experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making, or experience communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings, or experience developing MOPs and SWMS for planned works

Preferred qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field
- Experience in Logistics, Distribution or Fulfillment processes
- Knowledge of BI analytics, reporting or visualization tools like Tableau, AWS QuickSight, Cognos or other third-party tools
- Experience leading organizational change initiatives across multiple locations
- Experience in capacity planning, operations planning, business analysis or similar
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English at C1 level or above
