ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:


People management

  • Recruit the right talent for the role of MA and MSL based on scientific or technical ability, business acumen, communication skills and positive attitude
  • Manage and drive team’s performance in the following objectives: accurate and balanced scientific data delivery, territory management, MSL customer engagement, customer interactions, programs and activities
  • Develop fundamental training for development of on MSL’s/MA’s capabilities initially and sustain trainings (capabilities and/or scientific knowledge) after 1:1 coaching if needed
  • Retain and develop high performing MSLs/MA through ongoing development

 

 Planning and delivery

  • Establishes strategy and direction for MSL team. Combine broad therapeutic knowledge and business acumen to develop strategies and tactics at national level in designated therapeutic area.
  • Drive team to collaborate with KEEs and society to build up innovative scientific partnership,
  • Work closely with the Medical Team/Medical Advisors to develop the medical strategy that aligns MSL Plan with Brand Medical Plan and provides support to the sale team or other internal stakeholders
  • Resource optimization and organizational
  • effectiveness - Ongoing assessment of MSL team resources to fulfil Brand and KEE requirements
  • Define a specific customer engagement
  • plan for self and team that is aligned with Brand Medical Plan including 1:1 customer activity and CME meeting objectives
  • Ensure each MSL has their own KEE
  • engagement plan and defined customer goals
  • Support MSLs in their external stakeholder
  • engagement by reviewing their pre- meeting objectives
  • Track team and individual delivery versus plan and adjust plan accordingly
  • Provide regular updates to organization on Delivery versus plan, variance to plan and proposed Mitigation.
  • Maintains proactive and responsible communication within the internal stakeholders, as it relates to MSL activities/ outcomes that support the achievement of business objectives.

 

To establish AstraZeneca as a scientific leader through proactive, updated and effective Medical input

·       Continuously acquire and update necessary scientific knowledge on therapeutic area and relevant compounds

·       Develop and implement the local medical plan to address unmet medical needs in priority disease areas and ensure alignment with the brand plan.

·       Collaborate with MSL to seek input from MSL insights for development of local medical plan

·       Develop and implement pre-launch medical plan/activities for new products at least 2 years prior to the planned launch in the country to address key clinical and scientific challenges

·       Provide medical leadership on faculty and content development for medical program including national congresses, advisory boards, scientific exchange meetings, publications, CMEs to meet identified needs

·       Provide medical input to phase 1 to 4 study protocols, study feasibility and support operational delivery

·       Provide Medical expertise to support PSP market research, PASS and ESRO

 

Generate the medical evidence to support the brand strategies in priority TAs to meet unmet medical needs

  • Idea generation of the company sponsored clinical research
  • Oversight and accountability of the operation of the studies
  • Initiate research discussions, for example NIS, with customers to develop studies that will fulfill global and local business strategies. Participate as key member of brand team as strategic partner towards LCM actions including potential business development opportunities
  • Develop NIS or registry studies to address unmet medical needs
  • Developing partnership with OLs in order to develop their capabilities of conducting medical studies

  • Ensure self and team operate within the relevant Codes of Conduct, including GPEI and SOPs
  • Ensure self and team understand AZ policies when engaging KOLs and external stakeholders




REQUIREMENTS:


Academic / Professional qualification

  • Master’s degree with strong medical background with more than 2 years clinical experiences, and more than 8+ year on relevant experience of medical affairs in pharmaceutical company
  • Minimum 5 years of people management required

 

Technical / Skill

  • Extensive experience of Medical Affairs function within a pharmaceutical industry
  • Extensive experience in relationship and stakeholder management
  • Project management experience
  • Extensive team management experiences       
  • Organization and people development capability

Desirable

1. Understanding of multiple aspects within Medical Affairs

2. Extensive knowledge of the latest technical and regulatory developments
