Head of Global Financial Crime Framework (EU, UK, US)

WHO WE ARE

At Trustly, we're building a smarter, faster, and more secure financial future by revolutionizing the world of payments. As a global leader in Open Banking Payments, we are establishing Pay by Bank as the new standard at checkout, providing unparalleled freedom, speed, and ease to millions of consumers and merchants worldwide.

Our Ambition: To build the world's most disruptive payment network and redefine what the payment experience should feel like.

Trustly is a global team of innovators, collaborators, and doers. If you are driven by a strong sense of purpose and thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and high-growth environment, join us and be part of a team that's transforming the way the world pays.

About the role

You will turn Trustly's financial crime policies and instructions into clear, workable procedures/routines across the EU, UK and US. The scope covers AML/CTF, sanctions and fraud. You'll report directly to the SAE and Head of Global Operations & FinCrime Prevention and support them in running the framework day to day. That means making sure procedures stay consistent across regions, are applied in operations, and stand up to regulatory scrutiny. You'll potentially build and lead a team that covers procedures, model governance, risk assessment and reporting across all Trustly regions.

What you'll do

  • Turn policy into practice. Translate FCP policies and instructions into operational procedures and routines, with jurisdiction-specific variations for the EU, UK and US where needed.

  • Keep procedures current. Track regulatory and policy changes and update procedures and routines to match, working with policy owners.

  • Support the risk assessment. Support with the enterprise-wide and entity-level financial crime risk assessments, and make sure the results show up in procedures and controls.

  • Govern models end to end. Oversee lifecycle governance for AML, sanctions and fraud models, covering development, testing, validation, documentation, implementation and ongoing monitoring. Keep model documentation complete, current and audit-ready, and coordinate independent validation.

  • Connect framework and operations. Work closely with AML, Fraud and Onboarding Operations so procedures become practical, measurable controls rather than documents nobody uses.

  • Measure exposure. Define the global KRIs, KPIs and MI that show financial crime exposure and control effectiveness, especially across onboarding and transaction monitoring.

  • Support reporting. Prepare FCP reporting for the SAE, executive committees and Boards.

  • Support regulatory engagement. Coordinate input to regulator requests, examinations and audits, and track the remediation that follows.

  • Coordinate governance forums. Coordinate and take part in FCP governance committees and working groups.

  • Build the team (based on requirements). Design the team structure, then hire and develop the people needed to cover procedures, model governance, risk assessment and reporting across the EU, UK and US.

  • Partner across the business. Work with Product, Engineering, Legal, Risk and Internal Audit to build financial crime controls into new products and markets from the start.

Who you are

  • 8-10+ years in financial crime compliance, AML or related risk roles, including senior leadership in a regulated payments, fintech or financial services firm

  • Deep working knowledge of EU, UK and US financial crime regimes and FATF standards

  • A track record of turning financial crime policy into operational procedures, routines and controls, ideally across more than one jurisdiction

  • Hands-on experience with model testing, validation and documentation for transaction monitoring, screening or fraud models

  • Experience supporting senior management and Boards with financial crime reporting, and working with regulators

  • Able to translate regulation into workable operational controls in a fast-moving, product-led business

  • Experience building a team from scratch or scaling one, ideally across several locations

  • Degree in Law, Finance, Economics, a quantitative discipline or similar is desirable

  • CAMS, ICA or equivalent certification desirable

Adapt your resume

  • List these exact terms on your resume: Aml, Sanctions, Fraud, Risk Assessment, and Compliance. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
  • Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them — a tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
