AI in this role

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

In this role, you help clients achieve their homeownership dreams by providing thoughtful guidance when their traditional mortgage application doesn't initially fit RBC's criteria. As a One RBC advisor, you connect declined clients with approved third-party lenders while developing realistic transition strategies that position them to achieve their financial goals. Your expertise in analyzing client credit profiles, building compelling business cases for external lenders, and structuring appropriate lending solutions ensures clients access the right products at competitive terms. Your ability to balance empathy with sound financial judgment, combined with your talent for building lasting client relationships and partnering across RBC, creates opportunities for clients to succeed financially and strengthens their long-term loyalty to RBC.

What will you do?

• Review declined RBC mortgage applications and conduct thorough client discovery to understand circumstances, needs, and financial goals

• Analyze client credit profiles, financial circumstances, and debt servicing capacity to identify appropriate external lending options

• Collect, organize, and validate all required documentation to support client applications with external lenders, ensuring completeness and accuracy

• Develop business cases that articulate client situations and mortgage needs, positioning clients effectively with approved third-party lenders

• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of external lenders' products, policies, terms, rates, and adjudication criteria to match clients with optimal solutions

• Structure external lending solutions by advising clients on product features, rates, terms, and conditions to ensure alignment with their transition goals and financial capacity

• Develop documented client transition strategies in partnership with clients, identifying realistic pathways back to traditional RBC financing and achieving financial goals

• Exercise sound judgment to match clients with the right approved third-party lender based on their unique situation and transition goals

• Make all mandatory disclosures regarding fees, interest rates, terms, and RBC compensation before referring clients

• Perform regular nurture calls throughout the client's mortgage term to track progress on their transition strategy and maintain the relationship

• Collaborate with Mortgage Specialists, Private Banking partners, and other RBC advisors to identify additional client financial needs and opportunities for repatriation

• Manage all client interactions, documentation, and file submissions with integrity, ensuring full compliance with RBC policies and regulatory requirements

• Proactively identify and action program maturity leads to bring qualified clients back to RBC for refinancing or mortgage renewal

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• Minimum 2 years of mortgage industry experience or equivalent customer-facing financial services background

• Strong knowledge of mortgage products, lending criteria, underwriting processes, and home financing options

• Strong analytical skills with ability to assess credit profiles, debt servicing capacity, and financial viability

• Experience collecting, organizing, and preparing mortgage documentation and supporting materials

• Knowledge of alternative lending products, external lender underwriting standards, and adjudication processes

• Proven ability to build trust and maintain long-term client relationships

• Excellent listening and communication skills with ability to provide sound financial advice

• Self-starter who takes initiative, works independently, and seeks out solutions

• Commitment to compliance, data privacy, and ethical business practices

• Ability to manage multiple client files and competing priorities

Nice-to-have

• Experience in mortgage advisory or client relationship management roles

• Familiarity with alternative lending and third-party lender landscape

• Experience building business cases and structuring mortgage solutions for external lenders

• Experience with RBC mortgage systems (Finmo, HomeX, Sales Platform)

• Background in financial planning or wealth advisory
