The Position
Internship – Agentic AI for Environmental Regulatory Compliance
6 months | Starting December 2026 | Roche Diagnostics | Location: Basel, Switzerland
Help shape the future of environmental regulatory compliance through Artificial Intelligence.
Are you passionate about Artificial Intelligence, sustainability and applying emerging technologies to real-world challenges?
Join Roche Diagnostics for a six-month internship exploring how agentic AI can transform the way we anticipate, assess and manage environmental regulations affecting medical devices worldwide.
You will be part of the Product Sustainability & Compliance (PS&C) team, working at the intersection of technology, environmental regulation and healthcare innovation. You will collaborate with experts across functions and geographies, gaining hands-on experience in an international, inclusive environment where your ideas and contributions matter.
The Opportunity
You will play an active role in evaluating and piloting an emerging agentic AI platform designed to support global environmental regulatory intelligence and product compliance.
Your impact: Your work will contribute to an evidence-based assessment of the agentic AI platform’s regulatory coverage, accuracy, traceability, reliability, integration potential and business value, helping shape recommendations for future adoption and scalability
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Pilot an agentic AI platform: Evaluate its capabilities to identify, interpret and map global environmental regulations applicable to medical devices and in vitro diagnostics.
- Develop evaluation criteria: Help define regulatory scope, product categories and relevant product attributes to assess the platform’s performance.
- Benchmark AI solutions: Compare the platform with existing tools and selected third-party solutions, assessing regulatory coverage, accuracy, consistency, adaptability to user feedback and overall usability.
- Assess business applicability: Evaluate how the platform could integrate with Roche’s existing processes and improve regulatory intelligence, efficiency and compliance readiness.
- Translate insights into recommendations: Document key findings, limitations and opportunities, and develop evidence-based recommendations on the platform’s potential value and future adoption.
Who You Are
You are currently enrolled in a Master’s program, preferably in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computational Science or a related discipline.
You bring:
- Proficiency with AI tools, data analysis technologies with the ability to critically evaluate their accuracy, reliability and practical applications
- Curiosity about environmental regulations, sustainability and healthcare innovation.
- An analytical mindset and enthusiasm for solving complex challenges.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse teams.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
Prior experience in sustainability, environmental regulatory compliance is an advantage. Curiosity, initiative and willingness to learn are what matter most.
