Lead Software Development Engineer — Growth Tools

The Opportunity 

The Growth Tools team builds the experimentation and growth infrastructure behind Adobe Express. We own an end-to-end platform for A/B testing, progressive feature rollouts, session tracking, and campaign integrations, enabling teams to experiment, learn, and safely deliver experiences to our users. 

Our work spans the full engineering stack — from client SDKs and platform experiences to backend and edge services, data stores, cloud infrastructure, and integrations with other Adobe systems. 

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer and technical leader who can take ownership of complex, cross-cutting problems, shape the architecture of our growth platform, and lead solutions from early technical direction through production. You’ll work across system boundaries, influence how multiple teams build on shared growth infrastructure, and help raise the technical bar for the team. 

What you'll Do 

• Lead the design and delivery of complex capabilities across experimentation and growth tooling.  

• Own architecture and system design for significant areas of the Growth Tools platform.  

• Drive ambiguous technical initiatives from problem definition through production.  

• Identify systemic challenges and drive pragmatic improvements to architecture, reliability, performance, maintainability, and engineering velocity.  

• Partner with Product, Design, Data, and Engineering to turn customer and business needs into scalable solutions.  

• Help shape the team’s technical roadmap and longer-term evolution, including opportunities to apply AI and emerging technologies.  

• Lead technical discussions, mentor engineers, and raise engineering standards across the team. 

What you need to succeed 

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience designing and operating large-scale production systems.  

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent experience and demonstrated technical impact.  

• Experience designing distributed services, APIs, data systems, and cloud architectures.  

• Ability to solve complex problems across application, service, data, and infrastructure boundaries.  

• Ability to navigate ambiguity, make sound architectural trade-offs, and drive complex initiatives to completion.  

• Track record of technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and improving engineering practices and standards.  

• Curiosity about emerging technologies and enthusiasm for using AI-assisted development tools and workflows. 

Our technology landscape 

• Our technology landscape spans TypeScript/Node.js, AWS, MongoDB/DocumentDB, edge and CDN-based services, and modern web development frameworks and tooling. Experience with our exact stack isn't required — deep engineering fundamentals, architectural judgment, and the ability to learn and lead across technologies matter more.  

• Experience with experimentation platforms, feature flags and progressive rollouts, analytics or telemetry, real-time configuration, high-scale distributed systems, or developer platforms is a plus.
