As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Amyloidosis, you will act as a key scientific partner between AstraZeneca and the medical community, engaging in high-quality scientific exchange with healthcare professionals, key external experts, and clinical investigators.
With a focus on your assigned territory, you will contribute to improving disease awareness, early diagnosis, and optimal patient management in amyloidosis—an area characterized by significant unmet medical need and complex, multidisciplinary care pathways.
You will identify evidence gaps, gather actionable insights from clinical practice, and support the generation and dissemination of scientific evidence.

Accountabilities:
- Support the Field Force and cross-functional teams through continuous scientific updates on amyloidosis, including disease awareness, diagnostic pathways, and treatment approaches.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Key External Experts (KEEs), centers of excellence, and multidisciplinary teams (e.g., cardiologists, neurologists, hematologists), acting as the primary scientific contact.
- Identify local unmet medical needs, barriers to diagnosis, and gaps in patient pathways, and contribute to the definition of a Local Scientific Plan (LSP) aligned with business priorities.
- Provide medical input into competitive intelligence activities, including critical review of scientific literature and competitor data in the amyloidosis space.
- Support Medical Advisors/Medical Lead and Clinical Operations in site identification, feasibility assessments, and execution of clinical trials.
- Facilitate the collection and discussion of investigator-initiated study proposals within the assigned territory.
- Collaborate closely with Area/Field Managers to implement the Local Scientific Plan through aligned and coordinated field activities.
- Establish and maintain relationships with scientific societies, rare disease networks, and patient-centric ecosystems to strengthen disease awareness and collaboration.
- Partner with Regional Access Managers (RAM) and Local Access Managers (LAM) to ensure alignment between scientific activities and access strategies, particularly in complex rare disease pathways.
- Ensure high scientific quality and compliance across all field activities, supporting internal stakeholders as needed.
- Support Medical Advisors/Medical Lead and Patient Safety teams in the management of adverse events (AEs) and pharmacovigilance processes.
- Respond to medical information requests with accurate, balanced, and compliant scientific data.
- Generate and communicate actionable insights from interactions with external stakeholders to inform local and global strategy.
- Manage all activities and stakeholder interactions in accordance with Company Values, Code of Conduct, internal policies, and applicable regulations.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Scientific degree (e.g., Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Medicine).
- Solid understanding of clinical practice, drug development, and Medical Affairs activities.
- Knowledge of local regulations related to scientific engagement and medical activities.
- Strong scientific communication skills, with the ability to convey complex medical information clearly and credibly.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and matrix environments.
- Strong networking and influencing capabilities.
- Analytical mindset with ability to derive insights from field interactions.
- Project management and organizational skills.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Willingness to collaborate in international environments.
- Residency within the assigned territory.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Previous experience as MSL, CSL, or in Medical Affairs roles.
- Knowledge or experience in amyloidosis or related therapeutic areas (e.g., cardiology, neurology, hematology, rare diseases).
- Understanding of multidisciplinary care models and diagnostic pathways.
- Medical degree or PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Experience working with centers of excellence or rare disease networks.
