The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
3M is seeking a Product Development Engineering Specialist to support the growth and technical execution of key LATAM portfolios, with primary focus on Meguiar’s LATAM and additional support for PPR and Safety product development engineering activities. This role will serve as a technical bridge between product technology, marketing, commercial teams, distributors, and customers. The position is critical to ensuring proper product application, strengthening partner capabilities, supporting new product introductions, and enabling profitable growth across more than 15 countries in Latin America.
Meguiar’s LATAM is a highly technical and growing car care business where product performance depends on correct application, process knowledge, customer education, and consistent knowledge transfer. In addition, the role will contribute to PPR and Safety portfolio initiatives, supporting product development, application understanding, field validation, technical troubleshooting, and launch readiness. In this role you will:

  • Provide technical application and product development engineering support for Meguiar’s, PPR, and Safety portfolios across LATAM.
  • Deliver product training, demonstrations, and technical education to distributors, Marketing Development Partners, customers, and end users.
  • Support Meguiar’s market development by helping professional detailers, car wash operators, and partners understand proper product use, process standards, and value delivery.
  • Contribute to PPR and Safety product development activities, including application testing, customer feedback collection, product performance evaluation, and technical input for regional needs.
  • Support successful new product introductions by ensuring technical readiness, field implementation, and customer understanding.
  • Troubleshoot product application issues and recommend practical solutions to customers, partners, and commercial teams.
  • Partner with R&D, marketing, sales, and business teams to translate product features into clear application guidance and customer value.
  • Develop and share best practices, training materials, technical content, and application knowledge across LATAM markets.
  • Capture market insights and customer feedback to support product improvement, innovation, and portfolio growth.
  • Help build distributor and partner technical capabilities to improve consistency, scalability, and customer satisfaction.


Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Automotive Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in application engineering, product development, technical service, technical sales support, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
  • Experience in automotive aftermarket, car care, detailing, polishing, abrasives, coatings, surface finishing, safety products, or related technical segments.
  • Strong ability to explain technical concepts and convert product knowledge into practical application guidance.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication, training, and presentation skills.
  • Strong communication skills across diverse audiences, stakeholder profiles, and organizational levels.
  • Ability to collaborate across technical, marketing, commercial, and customer-facing teams.
  • Advanced English and Spanish proficiency.
  • Availability to travel within Latin America.

Additional qualifications that could help candidates succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience working with distributors, channel partners, or regional business teams.
  • Experience supporting product launches, field evaluations, customer trials, or technical training programs.
  • Knowledge of product development processes, application testing, and customer validation.

Work location

  • This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at 3M in Sumaré/SP or in clients.
  • Travel: May include up to 60% domestic/international.
