About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager - Power Systems & Drives to lead the development of our next-generation power electronics platforms.
This is a critical leadership role responsible for building and leading a high-performing engineering team focused on motor drive hardware, heater drive hardware, Active Power Factor Correction (APFC) power systems, power conversion technologies, and advanced power electronic devices.
You will lead a team of talented engineers and technical specialists, providing strategic direction, technical leadership, talent development, and execution excellence across multiple product programmes and technology platforms. Working closely with Product Development, Systems Engineering, Firmware, Mechanical Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams, you will play a key role in defining the future power architecture of our products.
This role is ideal for a leader who combines deep power electronics expertise with a passion for building teams, developing talent, and delivering innovative technologies at scale.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Lead and Grow a World-Class Engineering Team
- Build, lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing Power Systems & Drives engineering team.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent.
- Establish clear technical career pathways and succession plans.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Drive capability development across power electronics, motor drives, power conversion, and emerging semiconductor technologies.
Drive Technology and Product Strategy
- Define and execute the technology roadmap for Power Systems & Drives platforms.
- Guide the development of:
- Motor drive hardware platforms
- Heater drive and power control hardware
- APFC power supplies
- AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion systems
- Power distribution and energy management solutions
- Advanced power electronic technologies including SiC and GaN
- Partner with Technology & Architecture leadership to establish scalable, reusable platform solutions.
Deliver Complex Engineering Programmes
- Lead engineering execution across multiple product and technology development programmes.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to performance, quality, and reliability targets.
- Manage technical risks, resource planning, prioritisation, and decision-making.
- Drive engineering governance, design reviews, and technical milestone reviews.
Technical Leadership and Innovation
- Provide strategic technical leadership on power electronics architecture and design.
- Guide key technical decisions involving:
- Motor drive topologies
- Heater control architectures
- Power conversion technologies
- Semiconductor selection
- Thermal management strategies
- Reliability and compliance requirements
- Sponsor innovation initiatives and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance performance, efficiency, and product competitiveness.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product Development, Systems, Firmware, Control Systems, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality teams.
- Align technology development with business priorities and product roadmaps.
- Engage suppliers, technology partners, and external engineering organisations where required.
Operational Excellence
- Drive engineering standards, design methodologies, and best practices.
- Establish metrics and KPIs to improve quality, productivity, and predictability.
- Champion Design for Reliability (DfR), Design for Manufacturability (DfM), and Design for Testability (DfT).
- Maintain compliance with global regulatory, safety, and EMC requirement
What You'll Bring
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 12+ years of experience in power electronics product development.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex hardware development programmes.
- Strong background in the design and development of:
- Motor drive systems
- Heater drive systems
- APFC power supplies
- AC-DC and DC-DC converters
- High-power power electronics platforms
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams in a product development environment.
Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of power electronics architectures and topologies, including:
- PFC, Flyback, LLC, Buck, Boost, Half-Bridge, Full-Bridge
- Strong knowledge of:
- BLDC and PMSM motor drive systems
- MOSFET, IGBT, SiC, and GaN technologies
- EMI/EMC design and complianceThermal management and reliability engineering
- Product safety and regulatory requirements
- Experience leading products from concept through production and sustaining support.
