DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Senior Marketing Manager, VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution & Digital Surgery (Knee), located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, or Warsaw, IN, to lead the U.S. downstream commercialization strategy for the VELYS Knee platform and the broader digital surgery ecosystem within Joint Reconstruction.

Position Overview

This Senior Marketing Manager will report to the Director, Knee Reconstruction Marketing, and lead a team accountable for downstream strategy and execution across the VELYS robotic-assisted solutions. This leader will own the commercial strategy to accelerate system placements, drive utilization of the installed base, strengthen customer retention, and establish VELYS as the preferred robotic-assisted solution for primary knee arthroplasty.

This role sits alongside the Senior Marketing Manager, Knee Reconstruction (implant-focused) under a shared Director, creating two complementary pillars within the Knee Marketing organization -- one focused on the implant portfolio and clinical philosophy, the other on the enabling technology platform and digital ecosystem. Close collaboration between these two pillars is essential to deliver a unified, differentiated value proposition to surgeons and health systems that integrates the ATTUNE implant, Kinematic Restoration philosophy, and VELYS robotic-assisted workflow into a cohesive commercial narrative. Robotic-assisted surgery and digital health are among the fastest-evolving segments in MedTech.

This role requires a leader who can operate at the intersection of technology commercialization and clinical marketing -- someone who understands both the capital equipment sales cycle and the procedural workflow, and who can translate platform capabilities into surgeon-relevant value. The Senior Marketing Manager will work closely with surgeon customers, key accounts, health system decision-makers, and internal partners across Sales, Upstream Marketing, Supply Chain, Sales Operations, Global Education, R&D, and Software Engineering to remove adoption barriers, optimize the user experience, and build commercial programs that outpace the competition.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy & Platform Growth

  • Own and lead the U.S. downstream commercialization strategy for the VELYS Knee platform, including positioning, messaging, segmentation, customer acquisition, utilization optimization, and retention plans.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans that accelerate new system placements, drive competitive conversions from rival robotic platforms, and expand VELYS penetration across target accounts and surgeon segments.
  • Define and prioritize target customer segments based on account profile, capital purchasing dynamics, competitive installed base, procedural volume, and technology adoption propensity; build tailored engagement strategies for each segment.
  • Establish pricing, contracting, and capital justification strategy inputs in partnership with Sales Operations, Commercial Excellence, and Health Economics to optimize platform value capture across purchasing models (capital, lease, placement).
  • Set annual and quarterly commercial objectives, allocate resources against highest-impact opportunities, and manage the marketing budget to deliver ROI.

Digital Ecosystem & Connected Surgery Strategy

  • Lead the downstream marketing strategy for the broader digital surgery ecosystem connected to VELYS, including pre-operative planning tools, intra-operative data capture, and post-operative analytics capabilities.
  • Develop value messaging and commercial programs that articulate the end-to-end digital workflow value proposition to surgeons, OR staff, hospital administrators, and health system decision-makers.
  • Partner with Software Engineering and R&D to translate digital product capabilities and roadmap innovations into commercially viable messaging and go-to-market plans.
  • Identify and develop emerging commercial opportunities at the intersection of robotics, data, and digital health that strengthen the VELYS platform's long-term competitive moat.

Go-to-Market Planning & Launch Excellence

  • Lead go-to-market planning for new VELYS software releases, hardware updates, workflow enhancements, and digital feature launches, ensuring field readiness and clear success metrics.
  • Define launch strategy including phased rollout plans, early adopter identification, beta site coordination, training requirements, field communications, and post-launch performance tracking.
  • Coordinate cross-functional launch readiness across Sales, Upstream Marketing, Global Education, Supply Chain, Sales Operations, Software Engineering, and Technical Services to ensure seamless commercial execution.
  • Conduct post-launch reviews to capture learnings and continuously improve launch processes; establish rapid-cycle feedback loops given the faster release cadence of software-driven products.

Installed Base Performance & Customer Experience

  • Develop and execute programs that drive consistent utilization of VELYS across the installed base, including workflow optimization support, case volume acceleration initiatives, and surgeon proficiency programs.
  • Own the customer experience strategy for VELYS users, partnering with Technical Services, Field Service Engineering, and Customer Support to ensure a seamless end-to-end ownership experience.
  • Build customer retention and expansion programs that reduce competitive displacement risk and identify upsell opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Establish and track customer satisfaction metrics, utilization benchmarks, and retention KPIs; use data to identify at-risk accounts and proactively intervene.

Surgeon & Health System Engagement

  • Build and manage key opinion leader (KOL) relationships and surgeon advisory boards focused on robotic-assisted surgery and digital workflow innovation.
  • Shape the surgeon education and training strategy for VELYS in partnership with Global Education, including certification pathways, hands-on training programs, peer-to-peer learning events, and proctoring frameworks.
  • Develop health system and C-suite engagement programs that articulate the institutional value of VELYS, including OR efficiency, standardization, outcomes improvement, and total cost of ownership.
  • Lead platform presence and engagement strategy at major society meetings and technology-focused conferences; support podium strategy and thought leadership positioning.

Competitive Intelligence & Market Dynamics

  • Own the competitive intelligence function for the robotic-assisted knee surgery market; monitor competitive platform launches, software updates, clinical publications, pricing shifts, placement strategies, and market share trends.
  • Translate competitive and market insights into actionable strategic recommendations, including defensive positioning, proactive response plans, and differentiation opportunities.
  • Lead voice-of-customer research programs focused on technology adoption drivers, workflow satisfaction, switching triggers, and unmet digital needs.
  • Deliver regular market and performance briefings to the Director and senior leadership with clear strategic implications and recommended actions.

Field Enablement & Sales Partnership

  • Partner with Sales leadership to ensure the field organization is equipped with the tools, training, messaging, and competitive resources needed to win VELYS placements and drive utilization.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive field enablement toolkit including capital selling guides, ROI calculators, competitive battle cards, objection handlers, account planning resources, and health system engagement playbooks.
  • Support key account strategy and high-value placement opportunities in partnership with regional sales leaders, capital sales specialists, and field marketing teams.
  • Establish feedback loops with the field to continuously refine commercial programs based on real-world selling dynamics and customer response.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of marketing managers and associate marketing managers; set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Set team priorities and manage workload allocation to ensure disciplined execution across multiple concurrent initiatives -- balancing the demands of a fast-moving technology release cadence with strategic commercial planning.
  • Build team capabilities in technology commercialization, digital health marketing, capital equipment strategy, and cross-functional leadership.
  • Attract and retain top talent; support career development and succession planning within the team.

Cross-Pillar Collaboration & Upstream Partnership

  • Partner closely with the Senior Marketing Manager, Knee Reconstruction, to ensure the VELYS platform strategy and implant portfolio strategy are tightly integrated into a unified commercial narrative for surgeons and health systems.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Software Engineering, and upstream marketing to ensure downstream commercial requirements, surgeon feedback, and market insights are reflected in platform roadmap priorities, workflow design, and user experience enhancements.
  • Partner with regional marketing teams to share best practices for VELYS launches, competitive response, and customer experience across global markets.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in marketing, product management, and/or commercial strategy, with demonstrated career advancement.
  • Experience with direct people leadership, including coaching, performance management, and team development.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute commercial strategies that drive measurable growth in a technology or capital equipment environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in business performance reporting, market analytics, financial modeling, and ROI analysis.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior leadership, cross-functional partners, surgeon customers, and health system executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at the intersection of clinical and technology marketing -- translating platform capabilities into surgeon-relevant and institution-relevant value.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with a rapid innovation cadence.
  • Up to 40% domestic and limited international travel, including overnights and occasional weekends.

Preferred

  • Experience in medical devices, MedTech capital equipment, or a related healthcare technology segment.
  • Joint Reconstruction marketing experience or experience in robotic-assisted surgery, surgical navigation, or digital health.
  • Experience with both upstream and downstream marketing disciplines.
  • Track record of successful technology or capital equipment product launches.
  • Experience with software release cycles and agile go-to-market models.
  • Experience building and executing surgeon education and KOL engagement strategies.
  • Experience with health system and C-suite value selling, including capital justification and total cost of ownership modeling.
  • Experience supporting society meeting engagement and podium strategy (AAOS, AAHKS, or equivalent).
  • Experience with pricing, contracting, and placement model strategy for capital equipment.
  • Familiarity with digital health ecosystems, connected surgery platforms, or data-driven clinical workflows.
  • Ability to work with cadavers and within an operating room setting.
