AI in this role
Lead the strategy and roadmap for commercial data, analytics, and emerging AI products to empower business decisions.
Location: London, Coventry or Manchester, with some travel to London and Coventry for meetings.
Why join us
Our vision in Argos Data & Analytics is to empower every Argos colleague with accessible, trusted data and deliver market-leading analytical and AI solutions that drive smarter decisions and sustained competitive advantage.
As Senior Product Manager within the data & BI teams, you’ll have the opportunity to shape how data, insight and emerging AI capabilities are used to improve some of the most important decisions across Argos. From range and suppliers to pricing, promotions, stock and trading plans, the products you lead will help Commercial teams make better decisions and deliver greater value for our customers and business.
Working closely with Commercial, Analytics, Product, Engineering and Delivery colleagues, you’ll own a significant Data & Analytics product area and help set a joined-up direction across the Commercial domain.
What you’ll do
- Own the direction, strategy and roadmap for a significant Commercial Data & Analytics product area, including data and analytical insight products such as BI.
- Partner closely with Commercial and Commercial Analytics teams to understand their decisions, challenges and opportunities, translating these into clear product priorities.
- Identify opportunities to improve business decisions and actions through better use of data, insight and emerging AI capabilities.
- Define measurable customer and business outcomes, using evidence and insight to prioritise investment and demonstrate impact.
- Lead ongoing discovery and delivery, working across Product, Engineering, Analytics, Data Science and Delivery teams, including onshore and offshore colleagues.
- Manage priorities, dependencies and trade-offs, breaking larger opportunities into smaller increments that deliver value early and often.
- Simplify, modernise and, where appropriate, retire existing products to ensure the product portfolio continues to meet business needs.
- Help move insight towards action, evolving products beyond reporting what happened to helping colleagues make better decisions.
- Contribute to the wider Product community, helping develop our product culture, capabilities and ways of working.
Who you are
You’re an experienced product leader who is comfortable operating in a complex, data-rich environment and turning ambiguity into clear direction. You combine strong product judgement with a genuine curiosity about how the business operates and where data, analytics and AI can make the greatest difference.
You’ll bring:
- Experience owning a significant product area, setting its direction and leading discovery and delivery towards measurable outcomes.
- A strong understanding of how data, analytical insight and emerging AI can be used to improve business decisions and actions.
- Evidence of delivering measurable customer and commercial outcomes.
- Strong strategic judgement, with the ability to prioritise, anticipate risks and opportunities, and make clear trade-offs.
- Experience working across business, Product, Engineering, Analytics, Data Science and Delivery teams.
- A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to build trust and shared ownership across technical, non-technical and geographically distributed teams.
- Strong influencing and communication skills, including the ability to make complex decisions clear to senior and non-technical audiences.
- Retail or Commercial experience would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.
Essential criteria
- Proven experience owning and leading a complex product area from strategy and discovery through to delivery.
- Experience delivering measurable customer and/or commercial outcomes through data, analytics or insight products.
- Strong understanding of data, analytics and emerging AI capabilities and how they can improve business decision-making.
- Experience leading across multidisciplinary teams, including Product, Engineering, Analytics, Data Science and Delivery.
- Strong strategic, stakeholder management and influencing skills, with evidence of prioritising competing needs and making effective trade-offs.
