Are you passionate about delivering a great software experience for all Amazonians? Do you thrive at the intersection of AI innovation and enterprise tooling strategy? Do you enjoy identifying opportunities to reduce spending significantly in a highly visible role? If so, the Application Rationalization (AppRat) team wants to meet you.

We are looking for a self-motivated Sr. Product Manager - Technical with strong interpersonal skills and experience leading large-scale, cross-organizational initiatives. In this role, you will own the strategy and mechanisms that curate Amazon's enterprise software portfolio, with a strong emphasis on evaluating, piloting, and scaling AI-powered productivity tools. You will ensure every Amazonian has access to secure, productive, and cost-efficient tooling as AI transforms the way we work.

Key job responsibilities
- Define and drive the roadmap for rationalizing Amazon's enterprise software portfolio. Identify overlapping tools, assess build-vs-buy decisions, and recommend consolidation or retirement paths.
- AI Tool Evaluation & Recommendations: Lead the assessment of 3P AI tools across productivity categories (communications, project management, prototyping, code generation, etc.). Deliver tool recommendations aligned with Amazon's "AI for Me" program, ensuring Amazonians have access to best-in-class AI capabilities for their common tasks.
- Evaluation Frameworks: Invent and implement scalable mechanisms (scoring rubrics, data pipelines, stakeholder review processes) to evaluate applications across security, cost, adoption, and user experience dimensions.
- Cross-Org Influence: Work across IT, engineering, finance, security, and business teams to drive consensus on tooling standards. Influence without authority at senior leadership levels.
- Cost Optimization: Identify and deliver cost savings through license rationalization, contract renegotiation support, and elimination of redundant software.
- Customer Obsession: Engage directly with power users and employee communities to understand pain points, validate recommendations, and ensure transitions preserve productivity.
- AI-Native Operations: Contribute to AppRat's own AI-native transformation by identifying opportunities to automate evaluation workflows, adoption tracking, and portfolio intelligence using AI.

Skills and AI tools this role asks for

Prompt Engineering

Questions you could be asked

  1. How do you structure and test a prompt to get consistent output from a language model?
  2. This role expects you to use AI tools as part of the job. Which ones have you used, and for what?
  3. Tell me about a time an AI tool got something wrong. How did you catch it?

Adapt your resume

  • List these exact terms on your resume: Prompt Engineering. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
  • Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them — a tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
  • Put the AI tool in a bullet point about what you did, not just in a skills list — this role treats it as a required part of the job.
