About the Role

HPE Storage is seeking a specialist Performance Test and Analysis Engineer to lead performance engineering initiatives across the HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000 Object Storage and File Storage portfolio.

As a senior technical leader and hands-on contributor, you will define performance strategy, execute complex performance investigations, drive scalability analysis, and influence architecture across multiple product releases. You will work closely with architects, developers, QA engineers, and engineering leaders to ensure our storage solutions deliver industry-leading performance, reliability, efficiency, and scale.

This role requires deep expertise in computer architecture, operating systems, distributed systems, storage technologies, networking, and software performance engineering, along with a passion for understanding system behavior through rigorous testing and data-driven analysis.

What You'll Do

• Define performance strategy, KPIs, benchmarking methodologies, and release readiness criteria for HPE Alletra Object and File Storage products.
• Design, execute, and automate complex performance and regression testing across the product portfolio.
• Lead workload characterization, capacity planning, and benchmark development for customer-representative workloads.
• Analyze and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks across applications, distributed services, operating systems, storage subsystems, and networking infrastructure.
• Drive complex root-cause investigations and partner with development teams to resolve performance issues.
• Influence product architecture and design decisions through performance analysis and scalability insights.
• Develop automation frameworks, analysis tools, and benchmarking solutions using Python and modern software development practices.
• Follow and enhance performance engineering best practices and mentor other engineers in performance testing, analysis, and debugging techniques.
• Participate in performance readiness assessments for major releases and strategic initiatives.
• Represent performance test engineering in architecture reviews, design discussions, and customer-critical performance escalations.

What You Need to Bring

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in performance engineering, storage systems, distributed systems, or related technical domains.
• Proven track record of designing and executing performance test strategies for complex enterprise software or infrastructure products.
• Experience leading large-scale performance investigations and driving resolution of critical performance issues.

Technical Skills

• Deep expertise in computer architecture, including CPU, memory hierarchy, NUMA architectures, and I/O subsystems.
• Strong understanding of Linux and operating system internals, including scheduling, memory management, synchronization, and performance profiling.
• Experience with distributed systems, storage architectures, networking, and large-scale data platforms.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience building automation, benchmarking, and performance-analysis tools.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript and modern software development practices.
• Deep understanding of parallel programming, concurrency, scalability, and systems optimization.
• Expertise in performance benchmarking, workload characterization, capacity planning, and root-cause analysis across full software and infrastructure stacks.
