We're a Madrid-based engineering team building basket building experiences for a worldwide audience — starting with Europe as our priority and expanding across the US and beyond. On this team, engineers are partners in product decisions, not just executors — you'll help decide what we build and why, then own building it.

As a Software Development Engineer on our team, you will:

- Help define product direction alongside product managers and scientists — bringing your technical insight to shape what we build, not just how

Key job responsibilities
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer who is excited to solve ambiguous, high-scale problems and help decide not just how we build, but what we build. In this role you will:

- Design, develop, deliver, and support major components of our basket building experience, serving millions of customers worldwide
- Partner with product managers, scientists, and engineers to shape product direction — turning ambiguous customer problems into clear, measurable solutions
- Own features end-to-end, from design and implementation through deployment and ongoing operational support, in a modern AWS-native environment
- Influence the team's technical direction and drive engineering best practices for quality, performance, and operational excellence
- Collaborate with partner teams across regions as we expand from Europe to the US and beyond
- Learn from high-performing engineers and mentor more junior members of the team

A day in the life
Our engineers work end-to-end on the basket building experience — from idea and tech design through implementation, deployment, and weblab experimentation. On a typical day you'll collaborate directly with PMTs, UX designers, and applied scientists to flesh out software requirements and shape what we build, then turn those ideas into high-scale services that reach customers worldwide.

You'll spend your time designing and building the services we own, reviewing designs and code with the team, and running experiments to measure customer impact. While we own core components, expect some away-team work with partner teams across regions as we expand from Europe to the US and beyond. For the services we own, be prepared for DevOps work — we invest in strong CI/CD and maintain a high operational excellence bar so we can ship fast and safely.

About the team
We are a cross-functional team reinventing how customers build their shopping baskets. Today, filling a basket takes more effort than it should — customers repeatedly search for and re-add the same products. We're changing that, building personalized basket building experiences that get customers from intent to a full basket in seconds. We start with Europe and expand across the US and worldwide.

Engineers here are partners in product decisions, not just executors, collaborating closely with PMs, designers, and scientists. Our culture is collaborative, supportive, and focused on learning — ideal for the curious and customer-obsessed.

Basic qualifications

- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
