Sr. Manager, Transportation Strategy & Analytics, Amazon Transportation Services Mexico
AI in this role
This position is the single-threaded owner of Amazon's Middle Mile transportation strategy across Mexico, leading network design, transit time, analytics and procurement across multiple transportation products. This role owns how the network is designed, how fast we commit to be, what we pay for capacity and which programs we invest in, end to end from Fulfillment Centers and Sort Centers through to the final hand-off to Last Mile.
The successful candidate will lead a diverse organization responsible for Cross-Network Transportation Strategy, Network Design and Capacity Planning, Transit Time and Delivery Estimate Accuracy (DEA), Network Analytics and Transportation Procurement, as well as the strategy layer of every transportation program in Middle Mile including Sub-Same-Day, Linehaul, Warehouse Transfers, Third Party Carrier (3PC), Partner Carrier Program (PCP) and Direct Injection, We-Pay, External Fulfillment, Vendor Returns (VRETs), Reusable Containers and 1P Fleet, plus future strategic initiatives.
This role sets the plan; the Middle Mile operating organizations execute it. The role therefore partners closely with Transportation Operations, Sort Center Operations, Supply Chain, Last Mile, Finance, Procurement, Product, Tech, ACES and Global Transportation teams to build scalable transportation solutions supporting Amazon's long-term growth, and depends on influence and alignment rather than direct authority over execution.
This leader combines strong business judgment, analytical rigor and executive communication skills to influence senior stakeholders, drive organizational alignment and define the long-term roadmap for Amazon's Middle Mile transportation network.
Key job responsibilities
Own the multi-year transportation strategy for Middle Mile Mexico, balancing Cost, Speed, Capacity and Customer Experience.
• Own the annual network plan and the quarterly capacity commit: node footprint, lane design, mode mix and 1P versus 3P.
• Own the transit time promise and DEA across the network, including methodology, targets and governance.
• Own transportation procurement: carrier sourcing, contracts, rate cards and cost per unit.
• Own the strategy and multi-year roadmap of every Middle Mile transportation program, handing each roadmap to the operating organizations to execute.
• Own the single source of truth for network speed and cost, including the scorecard and the KPIs leadership uses to judge the network: Cost per Unit, Transit Time, DEA, Capacity Utilization, Carrier Performance and Productivity (TU).
• Own OP1, OP2, headcount planning and investment proposals for transportation, in partnership with Finance.
• Build the mechanisms that keep strategy and execution aligned, and lead executive business reviews that land decisions with senior leadership.
Hire, develop and mentor a team of Program Managers and Analysts, and raise the analytical bar of the organization.
A day in the life
No two days look the same. You start with the network scorecard, diagnosing whether a metric miss is noise, a capacity constraint, or a flawed plan, then directing your lead to investigate.
Mid-morning you pressure-test assumptions in a capacity commit session, leaving with a number you'll defend to leadership and Finance. You review a carrier RFP, weighing strong rates against volume commitments that conflict with the 18-month network plan. You shape a Direct Injection expansion with the operating org in the room, pushing for a smaller first phase with cleaner results.
You close the day writing plans, OP inputs, investment one-pagers. Some weeks tilt toward planning; others toward firefighting. Both are the job.
