As a Staff Software Engineer in the Document Retention and Archiving Crew, you’ll provide hands-on technical leadership across cloud-native platforms and enterprise content services. Following the migration of OpenText products from on-premises infrastructure to AWS-hosted, containerised services, the team is focused on operating, strengthening and progressively enhancing the platform, including integrating AI capabilities.

This role sits within the Document Retention & Archiving Crew in Operations Technology (COO Transformation Tech), where we design and deliver cutting-edge technology solutions that enable secure, scalable, and resilient content platforms for the enterprise.

You will:

• Lead the design, development, deployment and operation of secure, scalable cloud-native software solutions.
• Shape architecture and technical direction across AWS and Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Develop software and automation
• Integrate AI-enabled capabilities into the platform and guide their practical, responsible adoption.
• Embed comprehensive automated testing, observability, monitoring and secure-by-design engineering practices.
• Improve delivery through infrastructure as code, continuous integration and deployment, GitOps and reusable engineering patterns.
• Strengthen operational resilience, reliability, disaster recovery, performance and cost efficiency.
• Mentor engineers, share knowledge and influence technical outcomes across squads and the wider crew.

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

You’re an experienced software engineer and technical leader who enjoys working across software, platforms and operations. You can turn complex requirements into practical engineering solutions, influence architectural decisions and support others to grow. Experience applying AI within software or platform engineering is strongly preferred, although candidates with relevant exposure and a strong ability to build capability will also be considered.

You’ll bring:

• Strong software engineering experience in Python, Java or .NET, including sound design, testing and secure coding practices.
• Deep hands-on experience designing and operating solutions on AWS and Kubernetes, ideally including Amazon EKS.
• Practical experience with AI-enabled solutions, intelligent automation, machine learning integration patterns, retrieval-augmented generation or agentic AI.
• Experience with continuous integration and deployment, GitHub Actions, GitOps, Argo CD, Helm and infrastructure as code such as CloudFormation.
• Strong knowledge of observability, reliability engineering, security, identity and access management, encryption and operational support.
• The ability to provide technical leadership, mentor engineers and influence architecture and engineering standards across teams.
• Experience with relational or NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, Oracle or MongoDB, will be well regarded.
