Staff Software Engineer - Web Application (Full Stack)

This is a senior technical leadership role within CommSec Technology, responsible for building, evolving and supporting customer-facing web applications and digital product services used by investors every day. This is a true full stack engineering role focused on building and supporting customer-facing web applications and digital product services.

You'll work across the entire stack, from developing React-based user experiences through to designing, building and maintaining REST APIs using C# and .NET.

Success in this role requires strong hands-on expertise across both front-end and back-end engineering, with the ability to lead technical delivery and make architectural decisions across web applications, services and cloud-based platforms.

Working in a full-stack environment, our engineers develop everything from responsive web experiences and APIs to cloud-native services and platform capabilities that keep CommSec secure, scalable and reliable.

Our team embraces full-cycle engineering, taking ownership from design and development through to testing, deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement. Engineers work closely with product, design and business teams to solve complex customer and technology challenges using modern web technologies, cloud platforms, DevSecOps practices and AI-enabled tools. We’re interested in hearing from people who: 

• Have deep full-stack web application development experience across React, TypeScript, C#, .NET and REST APIs, with strong front-end and back-end capability.
• Build modern, scalable and high-performing customer-facing applications using React and TypeScript.
• Design and develop secure, scalable REST APIs and services using C#/.NET and AWS.
• Take end-to-end ownership across the full software development lifecycle, from design and development through to deployment and production support.
• Lead solution design and architecture decisions, balancing scalability, performance, security and reliability.
• Apply engineering best practices including CI/CD, automated testing, observability and performance optimisation.
• Leverage AWS, Docker and Kubernetes to deliver resilient, cloud-native applications.
• Partner with product, design and engineering teams to deliver high-quality technical solutions and customer outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and drive technical excellence, standards and continuous improvement across the team.

• Other: Java (considered with willingness to transition to .NET)
