The Role and Impact
As a Supplier Manager for Tier 2/3 substrate suppliers, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing cutting-edge strategies that ensure Intel's supply chain remains ahead of industry demands. Industry constraints for t-glass, substrate core, build up film, MLCC, and other substrate ingredients are risking our ability to supply substrates and support Intel revenue. This role will work face to face with these suppliers who sell to our substrate suppliers and ensure we are proactively managing near-term and long term supply to ensure a healthy, competitive supply chain for substrates. The majority of these suppliers are based in Japan, requiring fluent Japanese and the ability to work from Intel's Tokyo office.

Business group
This role is part of Intel's Supply Chain organization, which is dedicated to driving innovation and operational excellence across Intel's global business. The team manages strategic sourcing and procurement activities, ensuring optimal supplier partnerships to support Intel's technology and business goals. With a focus on fostering collaboration and aligning strategies across engineering, finance, and legal teams, the group plays a crucial role in enabling Intel's success in a dynamic and competitive market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tier 2/3 strategies tailored to Intel's unique substrate needs and technology roadmaps.
  • Drive supplier development and foster collaborative relationships to ensure cost-effective and innovative supply chain solutions.
  • Conduct sourcing strategy reviews to manage market disruptions and ensure business continuity.
  • Influence technical design decisions, negotiate technical contract terms with suppliers, and shape aligned roadmaps.
  • Coordinate purchasing activities with cross-functional teams to acquire materials and services that meet technical specifications and cost requirements.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives and regulatory compliance efforts, ensuring supplier adherence to Intel's procurement policies.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define product requirements and optimize technology solutions.
  • Partner with finance and legal teams to resolve disputes and implement risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related area.
  • Fluent in Japanese, and local to Intel's Tokyo office.
  • At least 9 years of experience in commodity management, sourcing strategy, supplier management, or related functions.
  • Proven expertise in contract negotiation and supplier relationship management.
  • Strong understanding of industry technology roadmaps, supply chain solutions, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in capacity planning, supply-demand analysis, and commercial acumen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field with at least 6 years of experience in commodity management or related areas.
  • Advanced knowledge of sustainable sourcing practices and regulatory compliance management.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across diverse functions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional collaborations to drive strategic business objectives.
  • Track record of developing innovative solutions to address complex supply chain challenges.

We invite you to bring your expertise and passion for supply chain excellence to Intel, where your contributions will shape the future of technology and create meaningful impact.

Adapt your resume

  • List these exact terms on your resume: Supply Chain, Supplier Management, Sourcing, Procurement, and Japanese. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
  • Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them — a tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
