AI in this role
About Modular
If you’re passionate about shaping the future of AI and creating tools that make a real difference in people’s lives, we want you on our team. You can read about our culture and careers to understand how we work and what we value.
About the role:
We are looking for a Technical Product Marketing Manager to shape how developers understand and adopt Mojo and MAX. You’ll own release messaging, working with engineering and product to decide what to highlight, then writing and shipping the release blog post, social posts, and community announcements. Beyond releases, you’ll set developer-facing positioning across our online communities. In this role, you will stay close to the developer community and use adoption and engagement data to decide what to prioritize next, all with the goal of enabling builders to get real value from Mojo and MAX.
Join our world-leading product team and be part of redefining how AI infrastructure is built and deployed.
LOCATION: Candidates based in the US or Canada are welcome to apply. You can work in our office in Los Altos, CA or remotely from home. Onboarding for new hires is conducted in-person in our Los Altos, CA office. Additionally, this role requires travel to conferences and developer events, which may be as often as once per month, as well as travel for team and company events (typically 2-4 times per year).
What you will do:
- Own release messaging for Mojo and MAX. For every release, work with engineering and product to decide what to highlight, then write and ship the release blog post, social posts, and community announcements.
- Own developer-facing messaging and positioning for Mojo and MAX across modular.com, docs landing pages, GitHub READMEs, the Modular blog, and launch announcements.
- Create content for executive speaking engagements aimed at developer audiences, including keynotes, conference talks, podcasts, and panels. Develop the narrative, write talk tracks and slides, and prepare executives with data, benchmarks, and anticipated audience questions.
- Partner with developer advocates on tutorials, code samples, and getting-started content that show developers exactly how to get value from Mojo and MAX, from pip install modular to a model running on a GPU.
- Work with engineering to turn benchmark results and performance comparisons against alternatives (e.g., vLLM, TensorRT-LLM, SGLang, CUDA) into clear, honest technical content.
- Write deep technical blog posts and launch content on topics like GPU programming, inference optimization, and the Mojo language.
- Partner with product management, engineering, and developer advocates to stay ahead of the Mojo and MAX roadmaps and turn upcoming features into launch plans and messaging developers trust.
- Stay close to the developer community on GitHub, Discord, the Modular forum, and social channels. Bring user feedback, friction points, and feature requests back to product and engineering.
- Track the competitive landscape across programming languages, AI frameworks, inference engines, compilers, and hardware vendors, and maintain accurate technical positioning for Mojo and MAX.
- Measure the impact of releases, launches, and developer content (adoption, downloads, docs traffic, community engagement) and use the data to decide what to prioritize next.
What you bring to the table:
- 5+ years of experience in technical product marketing, developer relations, developer advocacy, product management, or software/ML engineering within AI/ML infrastructure, developer tools, programming languages, or open source ecosystems.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Deep technical proficiency in AI/ML and accelerated computing, including working knowledge of frameworks and tools such as PyTorch, vLLM, or SGLang, and comfort reading code. You can credibly explain GPU performance tradeoffs (memory bandwidth, batching, quantization, kernel fusion) and pressure-test benchmark claims with skeptical engineers.
- A proven history of owning release and launch messaging for developer products, directing cross-functional launches on a regular release cadence, and turning technical advantages into clear developer benefits.
- A public portfolio of technical work aimed at developers, such as blog posts, tutorials, technical docs, or talks.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation abilities for developer, technical, business, and executive audiences, including experience building talk tracks and slides for executive speakers.
- Ability to independently prioritize work, navigate ambiguity and trade-offs in a fast-moving release cycle, and lead through influence across engineering, product, and developer advocacy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or technical related field.
- 2+ years of Product Management or related work experience.
- Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years of work experience.
Helpful, but not required:
- Comfort writing code.
- Experience marketing a programming language, compiler, or open source developer tool.
- Familiarity with GPU programming or compilers (e.g., CUDA, Triton, MLIR).
- Comfort reading C++, Rust, or other systems languages.
- Prior experience in ML engineering, MLOps, or inference infrastructure.
- Experience with Mojo, or contributions to open source AI projects.
- Experience speaking at technical conferences.
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, AI, or a related technical field.
- Experience at a fast-moving startup.

Skills and AI tools this role asks for
Questions you could be asked
- How do you monitor a model once it's live, and how do you know it needs retraining?
- Walk me through how you've used vLLM in your day-to-day work.
- What are the limits of PyTorch that you've run into, and how did you work around them?
- Describe a typical day in a role like this one: which parts run through AI directly?
- If you removed AI from this role, what would be left, and how do you decide what still needs a human?
Adapt your resume
- List these exact terms on your resume: ML Ops, vLLM, and PyTorch. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
- Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them — a tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
- Show where AI is part of your daily process, not a one-off project — this role expects it to be a running habit.
