At AstraZeneca, we are seeking an accomplished Medical Affairs leader to define and execute the Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism, CVRM, medical strategy for Mexico.

As Therapeutic Area Lead, CVRM, you will serve as the country’s senior scientific reference for the therapeutic area, lead a multidisciplinary medical team and influence strategic decisions across the organization. You will translate scientific evidence and portfolio priorities into medical initiatives that support patients, healthcare professionals and the wider healthcare ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the CVRM medical strategy and plans for Mexico.
• Provide senior scientific and strategic leadership across the therapeutic area.
• Lead evidence-generation initiatives, scientific projects and portfolio medical readiness.
• Build trusted relationships with scientific leaders, healthcare professionals and other external stakeholders.
• Partner with Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Patient Safety, Compliance, Commercial and Marketing.
• Lead, develop and retain a team of approximately ten medical and scientific professionals.
• Oversee medical activities, studies, scientific review processes and the therapeutic-area budget.
• Ensure compliance with the Code of Ethics, internal procedures, regulatory standards and GxP requirements.
• Maintain strategic field engagement with opinion leaders, stakeholders and the medical team.

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in medicine
• Medical leadership supporting launches, new indications or portfolio readiness.
• Significant pharmaceutical industry and Medical Affairs experience.
• Proven experience defining and executing medical strategies.
• Demonstrated leadership and development of high-performing medical teams.
• Strong scientific credibility and the ability to communicate complex evidence effectively.
• Experience influencing senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of patient safety, compliance and GxP standards.
• Fluent English, with the ability to communicate effectively in senior-level, regional and global settings.

Desirable Experience

• Experience in cardiovascular, renal or metabolic diseases.
• Experience in evidence generation, real-world studies or externally sponsored research.
• Strong project and resource management capabilities.
