Method: Roles are the postings live on Level on October 21, 2026 that sit in the data annotation and AI training category, taken from employer careers pages and applicant tracking systems. Reposts by job aggregators are left out. Each role is placed in one domain by its title, then by the start of its description when the title names none; a role with no clear domain is counted as Generalist. Rates are advertised rates as published by the employer, in US dollars per hour. A range counts at its midpoint, rates under $10 an hour are discarded, and the median is shown only when at least 5 roles publish a rate. Of the 35 roles, 22 publish a usable hourly rate and 33 are remote. AI levels follow our method.
