As of October 30, 2026, Level lists 54 live AI drug discovery jobs at Level 3 or Level 4. Anthropic said on October 27 that it will scale up its drug development work with Claude. The open roles are concentrated at a few employers, and almost all of them are senior.
What happened
On October 27, 2026, Anthropic published an update on its drug development work with Claude. It names six research partners: BigHat Biosciences, Bristol Myers Squibb, Divergence Labs, Enveda, Generate Biomedicines and The Column Group.
The post says Anthropic has also started drug discovery programs of its own. One targets rare childhood forms of muscular dystrophy.
The case studies cover several stages of drug development. At Divergence Labs, Claude generated roughly 35,000 antibody designs in about a month. At BigHat, the lab made and tested about 1,010 variants in about 10 weeks.
Anthropic writes that it plans to scale this work up substantially. For job seekers, the practical question is simple: who is hiring for this work today, and what do they ask for?
How many AI drug discovery jobs are open right now?
We searched live Level listings for "drug discovery" and kept roles at Level 3 or above. That gives 54 open roles as of October 30, 2026.
Of those, 35 are rated Level 4, Builds AI. On these roles, the job is building AI systems.
The other 19 are rated Level 3, Works on AI. On these roles, the daily work is on AI products, without building the model.
Nine of the 54 roles were posted in the last seven days. The levels page explains how each rating is assigned.
Which companies are hiring for AI drug discovery?
Isomorphic Labs leads with 12 open roles in this set.
Johnson & Johnson follows with 9 roles.
AstraZeneca has 6 roles.
Novartis and Iambic Therapeutics each have 4 roles. Recursion Pharmaceuticals and LatchBio each have 3.
Among Anthropic's six named partners, only Generate Biomedicines has a role in this search today. It is a senior scientist post in computational protein design.
Geography is concentrated. The United States has 29 of the 54 roles. The United Kingdom has 14.
Which job titles come up most?
Scientist titles are common. The word "scientist" appears in 18 of the 54 job titles.
Leadership titles are slightly more common: 19 titles include director, head or lead.
Ten titles include "computational", as in computational biologist or computational chemist. Nine titles mention chemistry in some form.
Pure engineering titles are a minority. Only 5 titles include "engineer", and 5 mention machine learning or ML.
For a software engineer, the clearest entry points are the machine learning and engineering titles. For a lab scientist, the computational roles are the closer match.
What skills and seniority do these roles ask for?
Python appears in 27 of the 54 listings, half the set. PyTorch appears in 15 listings.
AlphaFold appears in 10 listings. JAX appears in 8.
The work is research heavy. Of the 54 roles, 12 are classified in the research category.
Seniority is the hard part for newcomers. Of the 54 roles, 52 are senior, lead or executive level.
Only 2 roles are tagged mid level. None of the 54 roles is tagged junior or intern, so early career candidates should read the stated experience requirements first.
Do AI drug discovery jobs pay well, and are they remote?
Of the 54 roles, 24 publish a salary range in US dollars. The median midpoint of those ranges is about $190,000.
That figure covers posted ranges only. Many pharma employers do not publish pay, so the true spread is wider.
Remote work is rare in this field. Only 5 of the 54 roles are remote, or 9%.
If remote work matters most, our remote AI jobs page covers every field, not only life sciences.
Where should you start?
If you want to build the models, start with the Level 4 roles. They make up 35 of the 54 roles in this search.
If you come from software, look first at the 5 engineering titles and the 5 machine learning titles. They ask for Python and PyTorch most often.
If you come from the lab, the 10 computational titles are the closest bridge. Several of them list AlphaFold.
Anthropic's partner list is not a hiring list. Only one of its six named partners has a role in this search today, so the wider market is the place to look.
