[About the role]

Singapore has about 280,000 enterprises and dozens of government services. Help us make it feel like one. As Head of Engineering for BizSG, you’ll lead the team building AI agents that guide businesses to the right service and, soon, complete transactions for them. Be a builder-leader who still codes, and see your work land with real users. Engineering Lead role for BizSG is vacant. BizSG Agent launches on GoBusiness end-Oct 2026 and expands to transactional agentic capabilities from 2027. A senior engineering leader is needed to own system design, delivery and team capability.

[What you will be working on]

Set the technical direction for BizSG, from the BizSG Agent on GoBusiness to the shared agentic infrastructure behind it.
Design systems that are secure, reliable and ready to scale across 14+ agencies.
Lead the move from answering businesses’ questions to acting on their behalf, from 2027.
Build and grow a strong engineering team. Hire well, coach hard, raise the bar.
Stay hands-on. Write and review code, unblock the team, and show what good looks like.
Make AI-native development the team’s default way of working, and keep testing what actually works.
Work with product, design and agency partners to ship things businesses notice and use.

[What we are looking for]

A track record of system design and engineering leadership at L3 to Director level.
Strong, current hands-on coding skills. You still build.
Experience with AI-native development approaches.
Deep curiosity about AI and agents, with a record of learning fast and keeping up with what works. Prior agent experience is a plus, not a must.
A habit of starting from the user’s problem and measuring impact by what changes for them.
The ability to build trust and align stakeholders across agencies.

Good to have

Experience building or running LLM or agent systems in production.
Experience in regulated or public-sector environments.
