LET'S TELL YOU MOREWe're looking for a Construction Assurance Engineer to join our Wastewater Treatment Capital Delivery Team.
As a Construction Assurance Engineer, you'll provide an independent construction assurance presence across our capital investment programme, supporting the successful delivery of projects that improve the performance, resilience and sustainability of our wastewater treatment assets.
You'll work closely with Project Managers, Lead Project Managers, operational teams and delivery partners to provide confidence that construction activities are being delivered safely, compliantly, sustainably and to the required quality standards.
The role is far more than just site inspections. You'll act as a trusted advisor to project teams, providing construction expertise, identifying emerging risks, supporting the resolution of site issues and promoting best practice and continuous improvement across our supply chain partners.
Through regular site engagement and assurance activities, you'll help ensure projects meet their health and safety, environmental, quality, programme and compliance objectives while supporting Severn Trent in meeting its duties as a Client under CDM Regulations.
HOW WE WORKThis is a field-based role with regular travel to wastewater treatment sites and construction projects across the region.
You'll spend a significant proportion of your time carrying out site assurance activities, working directly with project teams and contractors, whilst maintaining close links with Project Managers, Construction Managers and operational stakeholders.
A full UK driving licence is therefore essential.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOREssential
- Experience working within construction, engineering, utilities or infrastructure environments.
- Strong understanding of construction health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and construction assurance practices.
- Experience monitoring contractor performance and site compliance.
- Ability to identify risks, provide constructive challenge and support improvements in project delivery.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with contractors, project teams and operational stakeholders.
- Ability to independently prioritise work across multiple projects and sites.
- Confidence producing clear and concise assurance reports.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience within the water, wastewater, utilities or infrastructure sectors.
- Experience supporting the delivery of capital projects.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts and contract management principles.
- Quality assurance or auditing experience.
- Environmental compliance experience.
- Temporary Works awareness.
- IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent construction health and safety qualification.
- HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant professional institution.
- Providing construction assurance support across wastewater treatment capital projects.
- Undertaking planned and reactive site assurance inspections.
- Providing confidence that projects are being delivered in accordance with Severn Trent standards, legislation and industry best practice.
- Supporting Severn Trent's Client responsibilities under CDM Regulations.
- Working with contractors and project teams to improve safety, quality and compliance performance.
- Identifying and escalating health, safety, environmental, quality and delivery risks.
- Supporting Project Managers and delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Promoting safe, sustainable and right-first-time delivery.
- Building strong relationships with operational stakeholders, project teams and supply chain partners.
- Sharing lessons learned and helping drive continuous improvement across project delivery.
- Helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the expected quality standards.
