Job Description

Who We Are

We're Australia's leading telecommunications and technology company. With a global presence in more than 22 countries, we have a strong global footprint. Our purpose is to build a connected future so everyone can thrive. We're all about providing the best experience and delivering the best technology on the best network.

This includes making Telstra the place you want to work.

About the Team

The teams across the Strategy & Finance Financial Management Chapter provide a wide range of financial management services that guide and empower our business. We have key relationships supporting Telstra's business operations, corporate leadership, customers, people and shareholders.

We work in an Agile environment, enabling us to prioritise the right work, mobilise the right resources, develop our people and support our business stakeholders to deliver better outcomes for our customers and shareholders. This role sits within our Financial Management Chapter Area, a global team of approximately 450 finance professionals providing business partnering and financial planning and analysis services across the organisation.

Focus of the Role

As Country Finance Head, you will hold a senior leadership position within Telstra's broader Strategy & Finance team and serve as the local Strategy & Finance leader for the Philippines.

You will provide visible leadership to the broader Strategy & Finance community in the Philippines while directly leading and developing the Philippines Financial Control team. You will be accountable for financial integrity, statutory and management reporting, governance, business partnering, liquidity and asset stewardship across Telstra's Philippine entities.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to shape business strategy and support material commercial, investment and operational decisions through trusted financial insight and constructive challenge.

Partnering closely with the Philippines Leadership Team, Philippine entity Boards and the International Finance Controller, you will strengthen financial reporting, regulatory compliance and corporate governance across the Philippine entities. You will also coordinate with specialist Tax, Treasury, Legal and Company Secretariat teams to support Telstra's obligations, including requirements administered by the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Philippine Economic Zone Authority and Securities and Exchange Commission.

You will protect enterprise value by maintaining a strong control environment, proactively managing and escalating financial risks, supporting audit readiness and ensuring disciplined management of cash, capital and intercompany arrangements. You will also drive finance transformation through process simplification, automation, improved data quality and stronger integration between local and global finance teams.

Key Responsibilities

This is how you'll bring the purpose of your role to life:

Financial Control, Accounting and Audit

·    Own the integrity of the books and records for Telstra's Philippine entities, ensuring compliance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards, Telstra policies and IFRS group-reporting requirements.

·    Lead period-end close, balance-sheet governance, reconciliations, accounting estimates and resolution of material accounting issues.

·    Coordinate statutory and tax audits, financial statements, supporting schedules, findings and remediation actions.

Financial Reporting and Business Partnering

·    Provide clear financial reporting, commercial insight and advice to the Philippines Leadership Team, entity Boards and International Finance leadership.

·    Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning and performance reviews across revenue, margin, operating costs and capital expenditure.

·    Challenge assumptions and support strategic decisions through robust scenarios, business cases and post-investment reviews.

People and Finance Leadership

·    Lead, coach and develop the Philippines Financial Control team, with clear objectives, accountabilities and succession coverage.

·    Act as the visible local leader for Telstra's broader Strategy & Finance community in the Philippines.

·    Build a high-performing culture focused on collaboration, capability and continuous improvement.

Board, Governance and Regulatory Compliance

·    Support Philippine entity Boards through high-quality finance papers, advice and timely follow-through of decisions.

·    Maintain strong governance across statutory reporting, capital, dividends, funding, related-party matters and regulatory compliance.

·    Lead financial governance and compliance across Telstra's Philippine entities, ensuring timely statutory reporting, audited financial statements and support for BIR, PEZA and SEC obligations in partnership with Tax, Legal, Company Secretariat and external advisers.

·    Accountable for timely statutory financial reporting, regulatory filings and maintenance of a strong control environment across all Philippine entities

About You

You are an accomplished finance leader who combines strong financial-control expertise with commercial judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

·    A Chartered Accountant, Certified Public Accountant or equivalent professional qualification.

·    More than 15 years of progressive finance experience, including substantial leadership responsibility within a complex multinational environment.

·    Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and developing finance teams and providing leadership across a broader finance community.

·    Strong expertise across financial control, statutory and management reporting, planning, forecasting, audit, governance and regulatory compliance.

·    Sound knowledge of Philippine financial-reporting, statutory-audit and corporate-regulatory requirements.

·    Practical experience coordinating Bureau of Internal Revenue, Philippine Economic Zone Authority and Securities and Exchange Commission obligations in partnership with specialist Tax, Legal and Company Secretariat teams.

·    Demonstrated ability to advise senior leaders and Boards and translate complex financial matters into clear, practical decisions.

·    Strong commercial acumen, financial-modelling capability and the ability to turn financial data into meaningful business insights.

·    The ability to identify financial risks and opportunities and provide clear advice on decisions affecting company performance.

·    Excellent stakeholder-management, communication and influencing skills across local and global teams.

·    A track record of driving accountability, process improvement and sustainable change within a complex operating environment.

Adapt your resume

  • List these exact terms on your resume: Financial Management, Statutory Reporting, Corporate Governance, Business Partnering, and Financial Planning. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
  • Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them. A tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
