About the role
As a Customer Solutions Architect (CSA), you will be the primary post-sales technical owner for our existing customers, helping them get the most value from the combined Fivetran and dbt platform. Working alongside Account Executives and Solutions Engineers, you’ll make sure customers not only deploy successfully, but keep scaling and expanding their usage over time.
This role operates as a technical account manager and strategic advisor, bridging customers who have achieved onboarding success towards long-term growth. You’ll own the technical narrative after go-live, monitoring an existing book of business, leading technical discussions, uncovering new data challenges, and guiding customers through architecture evolution, adoption, and expansion through live demos and technical workshops.
Location: Austin, TX (hybrid). This is a full-time position, and candidates must be located in Austin and able to work in the office two days a week (Tuesday and Thursday).
What you'll do
Customer Adoption and Value Realization
- Own post-sales technical engagement across a portfolio of assigned Commercial and Enterprise accounts
- Drive adoption, optimization, and ongoing usage of the platform, moving customers from initial deployment to sustained, scalable success
- Educate customers on new products and features as they launch, and on existing capabilities they may not be using
- Deliver enablement sessions, workshops, and best-practice guidance
- Monitor account health signals (usage, performance, support trends) and proactively intervene to address churn or contraction risks
Expansion and Growth
- Identify, validate, and execute expansion opportunities across business units, regions, and use cases, including opportunities to bring both Fivetran and dbt into an account
- Partner with Account Executives to drive incremental ARR through structured expansion plays
- Lead technical validation of new workloads, including workshops and, where necessary, proofs of concept
- Replicate successful use cases across the organization to accelerate growth
- Provide strategic input on the customer lifecycle and renewals process
Technical Strategy and Architecture
- Act as the chief technical stakeholder for your accounts after go-live
- Define and maintain reference architectures aligned to customer environments, ensuring consistency and scalability across implementations
- Guide customers on best practices for data pipelines, transformation, automation, and platform adoption
- Maintain technical artifacts such as architecture documentation, design patterns, and knowledge bases
Stakeholder Engagement and Account Planning
- Build and maintain strong relationships with technical, operational, and executive stakeholders, using stakeholder maps and multi-threaded engagement strategies
- Run regular technical cadence calls, business reviews, and roadmap sessions
- Contribute to Mutual Account Plans and own Mutual Success Plans, mapping whitespace opportunities across business units, subsidiaries, and use cases
- Align customer technical strategy with business objectives and commercial plans
Internal and Partner Collaboration
- Act as the technical orchestrator across Sales, Professional Services, Product, and Engineering
- Advocate for customer needs internally, influencing the product roadmap and priorities
- Collaborate with technology partners (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, GCP) to drive joint value
- Help improve team processes, refine assets, and enable teammates through our knowledge-sharing loop
- Create and deliver external-facing content through live events, blog posts, recorded tutorials, or other educational resources
What you bring
- 2+ years of experience in a post-sales technical role, such as Solution Architect, Technical Account Manager, or Customer Success Engineer
- Strong ability to own and drive customer outcomes after the sale, including adoption, renewal, and expansion
- Solid technical background, with experience designing scalable data architectures and a firm understanding of modern data warehousing, the analytics stack, and SQL proficiency
- Ability to translate business objectives into technical solutions and measurable outcomes
- Strong stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences, and a high degree of comfort presenting to diverse audiences
- A proactive, self-sufficient, and highly organized approach to managing multiple accounts
- Comfort operating strategically while also engaging in deep technical discussions
- Ability to operate in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment and think on your feet in customer conversations
- A team-player mindset, both within the CSA team as we evolve our ways of working and in daily collaboration with Account Executives and Solutions Engineers
- Openness to travel; we value in-person relationship building, both internally and externally, and expect willingness to travel to events as needed
