Where you’ll be working
You'll join our Retail, Customer Operations and Product function, where teams work together to improve experiences, solve business challenges and support Nationwide's long-term success.
The Data & Analytics pathway is designed to develop future professionals who can turn information into meaningful insight. As organisations become increasingly data-driven, there is growing demand for people who can analyse information, identify trends, solve problems and use evidence to influence decisions.
Through a series of placements, you'll gain exposure to different teams and perspectives while building a strong understanding of how Data & Analytics supports the wider business.
Location
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, based at our Swindon or Northampton offices.

What you'll be doing on the Data & Analytics Industrial Placement - Retail
Our Data & Analytics Industrial Placement is a 12-month programme designed to combine practical experience, professional development and real workplace learning.
Your placement begins with induction, development support and structured learning designed to help you settle in, build confidence and understand the role you'll be performing. Alongside this, you'll join a collaborative project with other Industrial Placement students from across Nationwide.
Development workshops run throughout the placement, helping build technical and professional skills, grow confidence and prepare you for your next career step.
This isn't a placement spent watching from the sidelines. From day one, you'll contribute to meaningful work while receiving the support needed to learn and grow.
Throughout the placement, you'll gain hands-on experience while following a personalised learning pathway tailored to your role. Mentoring, development sessions and support from experienced colleagues will help you continue building your skills and confidence.
During the placement, you'll complete a series of experiences across Data & Analytics teams, helping you develop a broad understanding of how information is used to improve decisions, understand performance and identify opportunities across Nationwide.
Activities could include analysing data, building dashboards, creating reports and visualisations, identifying trends and working with stakeholders to answer business questions.
Working with colleagues across different teams will help you understand how data supports decision-making throughout the organisation. You'll gain exposure to different approaches to analysis, reporting and data management while building valuable technical and business knowledge.
Depending on your placement, you may use technologies such as:

Power Apps
Power Automate
Along the way, you'll develop practical skills in:
Data analysis and interpretation
Data visualisation and storytelling
Management information and reporting
Customer insight generation
AI and emerging data technologies
Data ethics and governance
Stakeholder management
Creative problem solving
The pace of work is varied, combining project work, reporting cycles, dashboard development and ad-hoc business requests. This creates regular opportunities to learn new technologies, solve problems and broaden your experience.
Successful completion of the placement may help shape future career choices and could provide a route into our Data & Analytics Development Programme.

Eligibility: You must be studying towards an undergraduate degree.
