What an AP Fraud & Cyber Threats Director does at Visa
Reporting to the VP, Payment Ecosystem Risk, the Director will lead Visa’s Asia Pacific approach to identifying, assessing and responding to significant and emerging fraud, scam and cyber threats affecting the payments ecosystem.
This high-impact individual contributor role has broad reach across Visa, driving outcomes through close partnership and influence across regional and global teams. The role combines incident response, proactive threat mitigation, payment-focused cyber-threat intelligence, technical product risk advice and external engagement.
The role requires close partnership across Risk, Product, Cybersecurity, and Technology in market, AP and Global teams to assess emerging threats, develop risk positions, influence control improvements, and coordinate regional response activities.
Key objectives are:
- Lead the regional client response to fraud and cyber-enabled payment incidents: build on initial global threat analysis to assess AP impact, develop further intelligence, engage affected clients and markets in close partnership with Risk Managers, and drive resolution with minimal client friction and ecosystem impact.
- Translate threat intelligence into preventive action: identify emerging fraud, scam and cyber-enabled vulnerabilities across the payments ecosystem and drive stronger controls, product enhancements, solutions and client guidance.
- Embed fraud and cyber-threat controls into products from launch: influence Product teams during product design, Product Risk Reviews, launch readiness and remediation activities by translating fraud, scam, and cyber-threat intelligence into abuse scenarios, control recommendations and client guidance, enabling products to scale securely and with confidence.
- Establish Visa’s AP payment-risk approach to cyber threats: build the intelligence-sharing cadence and operating model with Cybersecurity, Technology and Market Risk, ensuring cyber-threat intelligence is consistently translated into payment-ecosystem action.
- Strengthen Visa’s external leadership on fraud and cyber threats: represent Visa with clients, regulators and industry stakeholders, providing credible risk expertise and thought leadership that reinforces Visa’s position as a recognized and trusted authority.
Why this is important to Visa
Fraud, scams and cyber-enabled attacks are becoming faster, more sophisticated and increasingly interconnected, with AI enabling threat actors to scale deception and exploit new vulnerabilities across the payment ecosystem.
This role is critical to helping Visa anticipate emerging threats, translate intelligence into proactive action, and strengthen ecosystem defenses while enabling secure innovation and growth.
Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
