Job Title: EC&I System V&V Engineer

Working Pattern: Full Time - Days

Working location: Derby (5 Days onsite)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Systems Engineer to join our growing EC&I Verification & Validation (V&V) team.

The EC&I V&V team is responsible for delivering verification of the next-generation Rolls-Royce nuclear reactor control system. This includes the verification of individual control units, subsystem and system-level integration, and alignment with the wider submarine platform.

You will play an integral role in ensuring the high-integrity reactor control system performs to specification and delivers sustainable performance in support of the Royal Navy for decades to come.

What you will be doing:

You will be responsible for delivering critical V&V processes, tools and test artefacts to verify the system, including:

• Generating V&V processes and tools for testing and analysis of test evidence.
• Taking ownership of the verification of one or more EC&I products.
• Reviewing requirements and allocating appropriate verification methods.
• Developing algorithm emulators, test procedures and test scripts.
• Designing, specifying, deploying, operating and maintaining bespoke test rigs and sensor simulators.
• Conducting testing of EC&I equipment and compiling verification evidence and reports.
• Working closely with commissioning teams to support the deployment of equipment onto boats.

Who we’re looking for:

• Degree qualified in Electronic, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, Software Engineering, Physics or a related discipline. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Extensive Verification & Validation experience, including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.
• Strong technical understanding of high-integrity electrical and electronic systems.
• Good knowledge of the product design lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, verification and validation, safety and final acceptance.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with experience analysing and interpreting test data.
• Experience with Python, VBA or MATLAB/Simulink would be advantageous.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines, an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance.  Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place.  Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MoD approved cases, a dual national.
