AI in this role
Game Producer for an unannounced R&D project managing day-to-day execution, schedules, and team workflows.
Riot Games was established in 2006 by entrepreneurial gamers who believe that player-focused game development can result in great games. In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends to critical and player acclaim. Since then we have grown into a multi-title, multi-region developer and publisher, with games and experiences played by hundreds of millions of players every month. Players form the foundation of our community, and it's for them that we continue to evolve and improve the experiences we create.
We're looking for humble but ambitious, razor-sharp professionals who can teach us a thing or two. We promise to return the favor. Like us, you take play seriously; you're passionate about games. We embrace those who see things differently, aren't afraid to experiment, and who have a healthy disregard for constraints. That's where you come in.
The Role
As Producers at Riot, we lead passionate cross-functional teams to create innovative products and experiences that deliver maximum player value. We drive development, smash through obstacles, and push projects across the finish line.
As a Game Producer on the Unpublished R&D Product team in Shanghai, you will keep the team's day-to-day execution running. The production plan, work system, and team rituals are set with the team's senior producer. Your job is to make them work every day: tasks are tracked, dependencies are followed up, meetings produce decisions, risks surface early, and everyone knows where things stand.
You will work hands-on with designers, artists, and engineers on a feature area or sub-team, and take on larger pieces of work as you build trust. This role suits someone who is highly organized, follows through relentlessly, and enjoys the detail of getting things done.
Responsibilities:
- Keep roadmaps and schedules up to date. Maintain the backlog, sprint and milestone schedules, and task tracking for your feature area in line with the project roadmap. Collect estimates and status from discipline leads, update plans when scope or priorities change, and flag early when a milestone is at risk.
- Execute within the team's development process. Make sure the team's agreed workflows and tools (e.g., Jira) are used consistently: tickets are clean, statuses are current, and hand-offs between design, art, and engineering happen on time. Spot where the process is causing friction and bring improvement ideas to the senior producer.
- Run day-to-day production rituals. Schedule and facilitate stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, playtest and milestone reviews, and retrospectives. Prepare agendas, keep meetings on time, record decisions and action items, and follow up until each one is closed.
- Track and escalate risks and blockers. Keep a live risk, blocker, and dependency log for your area. Follow up with owners across teams, clear minor blockers yourself, and escalate anything bigger to the senior producer promptly, with clear context and suggested next steps.
- Maintain documentation and status reporting. Keep workflows, schedules, meeting notes, decision logs, and project status accurate and easy to find. Put out regular status updates for stakeholders, and help capture post-milestone learnings and onboarding materials.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in game development, including at least 2 years in a production, project management, or similar coordination role.
- Hands-on experience tracking and delivering features or content against a schedule, including backlog management, task tracking, and dependency follow-up.
- Experience facilitating team rituals (stand-ups, planning, retrospectives) within Agile or similar development practices.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or equivalent.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through. Comfortable handling multiple parallel workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear, timely written and verbal communication. You keep stakeholders informed and raise issues early.
- Business fluency in Mandarin and English.
Desired Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of how design, art, and engineering pipelines work in a modern game engine.
- Experience working with distributed or cross-regional teams across time zones and cultures.
For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!
