AI in this role
Lead the product vision and roadmap for autonomous depot operations and robotics infrastructure at Waymo.
Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.
Waymo’s Product Management Team is a mission-driven team responsible for writing and enacting first-of-their-kind playbooks to bring fully autonomous driving technology to market. Our team develops simple solutions for complex problems by orchestrating cross-functional efforts to safely drive Waymo’s technology and the products it enables forward. We do this by understanding the customer, the business, and the technology. We are humble about the scope of our work, collaborative in our approach to problem-solving, and ambitious about our vision for the future.
You will:
- Define and lead the multi-year product vision, strategy, and end-to-end roadmap for robotic depot automation—including autonomous vehicle charging, automated cleaning, and vehicle inspection—to fundamentally bend the cost per mile curve as Waymo scales globally
- Develop product requirements spanning onboard autonomous driving capabilities (such as high-precision parking), fleet orchestration, and physical robotics hardware
- Align senior leaders across operations, engineering, and product to develop automation systems from prototypes to production deployments
- Partner with operations, strategy, partnerships, and finance to define the rollout plan across owned & operated and partner-operated deployments
- Shape the design of next-generation autonomous vehicle platforms and depot infrastructure so future fleets are architected from the ground up for zero-touch operations
You have:
- 10+ years of Product Management or senior technical leadership experience building, scaling, and commercializing complex products that bridge robotics, software, and real-world operations
- A BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical engineering experience
- Proven track record of taking complex products from early prototype through scaled production deployment, transforming ambiguous, multi-disciplinary problem spaces into cohesive multi-year strategies and phased execution roadmaps
- Strong analytical and financial acumen, with an understanding of developing NPV or ROI analyses to demonstrate project viability
- Demonstrated success aligning and influencing senior engineering, operations, and commercial leaders across organizational boundaries without direct authority
- Exceptional executive communication skills, with the ability to lead executive reviews and the technical depth to debate system architecture with principal engineers
We prefer:
- Direct leadership experience in robotics, industrial/warehouse automation, EV charging infrastructure, or autonomous vehicles
- Deep familiarity with industrial and robotic safety architectures (cobot/EHS standards, perception/latency trade-offs)
- An advanced technical degree (MS/PhD) or MBA alongside a strong engineering foundation
Travel requirements:
- Ability to travel periodically to visit depots, test facilities, operating markets, and external automation partners
