Internal Communications Specialist
AI in this role
What’s the role?
We’re looking for a strategic, collaborative and curious communicator to help develop and execute internal communications across our fast-paced, global organization, with a particular focus on supporting leaders and their communications. You’ll draft and edit leadership messages, talking points, presentations and other employee communications; help leaders communicate complex topics clearly; and work closely with stakeholders to move projects from idea through execution.
You’ll support leaders across Bloomberg, including our Product, Data & Technology teams, developing a strong understanding of their businesses and the topics that matter to their employees. You’ll need to quickly synthesize information, identify what matters most and translate sometimes complex or technical subjects into clear, accessible communications. Just as importantly, you’ll learn how different leaders communicate and adapt your writing to their voice, audience and the moment.
This role requires strong writing, organization and judgment. You’ll build productive relationships with leaders, colleagues and peers through reliability, responsiveness and curiosity about the business. You should be comfortable working with senior stakeholders, handling sensitive information with discretion, managing multiple priorities and asking the right questions to get the context you need. We’re looking for someone who can execute at a high level today while continuing to develop the business acumen, editorial judgment and executive communications skills that will allow them to take on increasingly complex work and remit.
We'll Trust You To:
Build strong stakeholder relationships: Develop credibility with leaders and partners across teams and levels by understanding their priorities, anticipating needs and delivering consistently. As you grow in the role, you’ll have opportunities to take on increasingly complex work and provide communications guidance to leaders.
Support leadership communications: Work closely with leaders and stakeholders to understand their goals and translate them into clear, compelling communications. You’ll draft and edit leadership messages, talking points, presentations, briefing materials and other communications, adapting your writing to different voices, audiences and situations while maintaining a high bar for quality.
Drive program communications and planning: Partner with stakeholders and program leads to develop and execute communications plans for key business priorities and initiatives. You’ll help determine the right messaging, audiences, channels and cadence, and own the details needed to move work forward from planning through execution.
Make complex topics accessible: Learn the businesses you support and turn technical, detailed or unfamiliar subjects into content employees can understand and connect to. You’ll ask the right questions, quickly synthesize information, identify what matters most and find engaging ways to tell the story.
Create engaging content and experiences: Write internal stories and other employee content, and help develop and facilitate town halls and other internal programs. You’ll bring creativity and fresh ideas to how leaders and the business communicate with employees across different formats and channels.
Contribute to team priorities: Collaborate with Internal Communications colleagues across businesses and regions to share ideas, strengthen our channels and processes, and ensure employees receive coordinated, high-quality communications.
You'll need to have:
3-5 years of experience in employee, internal or corporate communications, ideally within a complex, global and fast-paced organization.
Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt your writing for different audiences, topics, leaders and voices.
Experience working with senior stakeholders, including drafting communications on their behalf.
The ability to quickly synthesize information, identify what matters most and turn complex subject matter into clear, concise communications.
Experience managing communications projects from planning through execution, including coordinating across multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to establish credibility through responsiveness, sound judgment and a genuine interest in understanding the business.
Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
Curiosity, resourcefulness and the ability to quickly learn new subject matter and systems.
Discretion and good judgment when working with sensitive or confidential information.
Comfort working in a collaborative environment where priorities can shift and input may come from multiple teams and leaders.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, English, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
We'd love to see:
Experience supporting communications for organizational changes, business initiatives, employee programs or internal campaigns.
Experience developing talking points, presentations, briefing materials or town hall content for leaders.
Experience communicating technical, product or business topics to broader employee audiences.
Adaptability across different contexts and comfort learning new tools and systems.
