The Capacity Planning Team provides EU Amazon Operations with cost-optimal and flexible capacity solutions for in-station operations, year-round and enabling the business to scale for seasonal peak demand increases. The ideal candidate is passionate about leveraging data to deliver actionable insights that impact daily business, has a strong delivery record and experienced in driving execution in a cross-functional environment, backed by analysis and data. They thrive in a fast-paced environment, relish working with large amounts of data, and enjoys the challenge of solving highly complex, and sometimes ambiguous problems.

A day in the life
As a Planning Analyst in Capacity Planning Team, you will be working on the weekly cadence for the generation of capacity plans for Amazon facilities to make sure the organization is well prepared for the future. You will analyze execution gaps to improve future plans. You will work cross-functionally and build key relationships to ensure that decisions are made and actioned. Which will enable Amazon operations to run as effectively as possible. You will challenge the unknown and strive for continuous improvement in key areas of our business.
A successful candidate enjoys problem solving, is comfortable accessing and working with big data from multiple sources, and is enthusiastic about partnering with other teams across the business to deliver results. You should have an internal drive to challenge the status quo, excellent analytical skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, naturally curious, and be involved in the details.

About the team
We forecast cube and capacity requirements, monitor inventory fullness, plan for peak events, and drive cost-out initiatives across 100+ fulfillment centers. The team operates at the intersection of supply chain planning, data analytics, and cross-functional program execution, partnering daily with Operations, Finance, S&OP, PPT, ACES, SCOT and Placement.

Basic qualifications

- Bachelor's degree, or MBA in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics or related field
- Experience in Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau
- Experience communicating results to senior leadership, or experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MS Power Query, Python)
- Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience in SQL data manipulation
- - 1-3 years of experience in supply chain planning, capacity planning, cube/inventory management, or operations analytics

Preferred qualifications

- Experience with reporting and Data Visualization tools such as Quick Sight / Tableau / Power BI or other BI packages
- Experience with data scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R, or equivalent) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab, or equivalent)
- Experience in operations management for a fulfillment or distribution center
- Experience managing multiple internal stakeholders and advising cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and process improvement methodologies
