IT Senior Architect-Cloud Architect, China

JOB PURPOSE

The Cloud Architect owns cloud architecture definition for strategic China cloud environments. The role defines workload placement strategy, landing zone design, network connectivity, cloud security patterns, migration standards, business resilience and FinOps frameworks. It aligns cloud design with global cloud standards while addressing China regulatory and operational constraints, and guides cloud adoption and migration in collaboration with global cloud teams and local delivery, security and infrastructure teams.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

1. Cloud Architecture Strategy & Design

· Define workload placement strategy, landing zone design, connectivity, security patterns, migration standards, resilience and FinOps across strategic China clouds.

· Guide cloud-native workload architecture and service selection, including containers, Kubernetes, serverless and managed services, balancing business requirements, reliability, operational complexity and cost.

2. Global Alignment & China Compliance

· Align China cloud architecture with global cloud reference architecture; implement justified local adaptations for China regulation and operational requirements.

3. Architecture Governance & Standards

· Participate in enterprise architecture governance; review cloud solution design for all China IT projects.

· Develop cloud architecture standards, playbooks and operational guidance for local delivery teams.

· Define infrastructure-as-code (IaC) standards and reusable automation patterns for cloud provisioning, configuration management and policy enforcement, supporting consistent deployments and configuration drift detection.

4. Cloud Migration & Delivery Enablement

· Collaborate with global cloud centre of excellence, local security, infrastructure, delivery and vendor teams for cloud migration and new cloud workload onboarding.

· Create cloud architecture diagrams, design specifications and cloud decision records for local and global stakeholders.

5. Cost, Risk & Operational Excellence

· Evaluate cloud cost, risk, resilience and compliance; drive continuous cloud optimization.

· Establish architecture requirements for observability and operational readiness, including logging, metrics, tracing, alerting and service-level objectives, in collaboration with application and operations teams.

6. Technology Innovation

· Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and services; design and conduct hands-on proofs of concept (PoCs) to validate feasibility, architectural fit, operational readiness and cost effectiveness.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES

- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or related technical discipline.

- Professional cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, Alibaba Cloud, etc.)

-  Deep practical knowledge of global & local public cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Alibaba Cloud, etc.).

-  Strong experience in landing zone design, cloud network topology, cloud security controls, resilience & DR design.

-  Working knowledge of FinOps, cloud cost governance and cloud migration methodologies.

-  Understanding of global cloud reference architectures and ability to identify necessary China-specific adaptations.

-  Able to produce cloud architecture artefacts including network, security and workload deployment diagrams.

- Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese; able to communicate effectively with global and local teams.

Essential：    

- 5+ years of cloud architecture experience.

- Hands-on landing zone, cloud networking, security and cloud migration delivery experience..

Desirable：

- Multi-cloud landing zone, FinOps and security architecture experience.

- Solid experience in end-to-end project delivery.

- Experience in multinational enterprise cloud transformation programs.

- Knowledge of life-science / pharma industry IT compliance requirements.

- Proficient in cloud consoles, IaC / automation tooling, architecture diagramming tools and Microsoft Office.

Others:

- Strong risk and compliance awareness for China data & cyber-security regulation.

- Excellent cross-team and cross-region collaboration with global cloud teams.

- Result-oriented, with good problem-solving and technical communication skills...
