PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We’re looking for an audio specialist who’s equally comfortable reading news bulletins and producing programmes. You’ll work across a range of weekday and weekend programmes delivering community-focussed stories for the island of Jersey. We’re unique. We have our own Government, laws and traditions and you’ll be close to the audience you serve. There will be opportunities to pitch and develop original stories and to work across platforms as required.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
BBC Radio Jersey has been at the heart of island life since 1983, delivering news and conversation that gets people talking. Join our friendly, ambitious team and help create content that informs and engages audiences across Jersey.
Even if we say so ourselves, Jersey has got to be one of the best places to live and work. You're never more than ten minutes from the sea and we have some of the best beaches in the British Isles.
We’re looking for a creative multimedia journalist to contribute ideas, tell compelling stories and connect with our audience across platforms.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- This is an exciting opportunity to work across a range of radio bulletins and programmes – you’ll contribute engaging programme ideas, research guests and topics, and there will be the opportunity to undertake some on-air work reading news bulletins and reporting.
- You’ll deliver programme production duties, updating BBC Sounds programme information, recording and editing multi-track audio and developing stories to be used across all platforms.
- You’ll also operate a variety of broadcast equipment including the on-air studios, our production desk, and our broadcast vehicles. You may work on weekdays and at weekends including early mornings.
You will work across a range of news-reading and radio production shifts – including early mornings and weekends – as part of a small multi-skilled team creating great audio, digital and TV output.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Demonstrable experience in radio, audio or multimedia content production, including researching stories, generating programme ideas and contributing to engaging editorial output.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to read news bulletins clearly and accurately and contribute content across multiple platforms.
- Experience recording, editing and producing audio content, with a good understanding of digital and broadcast production workflows.
- Technical aptitude and willingness to learn and operate a range of broadcast equipment, production systems and studio technology.
- Strong teamwork skills and an understanding of local audiences, with the ability to work collaboratively in a small team and adapt to a flexible working pattern, including early mornings and weekends.
If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
