Participate in a year-round junior software development internship program writing code and solving complex technical challenges.
The JDP is a year-round internship program designed to support a strong balance between work and school. You will receive 1:1 mentorship from a full-time Amazonian for the entirety of your program tenure. Flexible part-time schedules during the school year and full-time employment over the summer create an environment where students can succeed both academically and professionally. In Detroit, an established Jr. community fosters meaningful connections between you and your peers.
Our team is currently looking for students to start with our January 2027 cohort. Upon successful completion of the program, the opportunity for full-time employment may be available at an Amazon corporate site.
Program Highlights:
- Part-time work during the school year (16 hours/week)
- Full-time work during the summer (40 hours/week)
- 1:1 mentoring with an experienced Amazonian
- Bi-annual performance reviews designed to support ongoing growth and development
Basic qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university Bachelor's or Master's degree program.
- Graduating December 2028 and beyond.
- Majoring in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM field.
- Ability to work year-round until graduation (part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer).
- Able to start work in January 2027
- Ability to work in person year-round at the Detroit corporate office. (This role is not offered remote or hybrid and all working hours must be in office).
- Must be living within commutable distance to Detroit, MI
- Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, Python, or C++ including object-oriented design.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous technical internship(s), if applicable.
- Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
- Ability to solve complex problems and work through ambiguity.
