As a Local Business Manager, you’ll be the local face of Nationwide’s Business Banking proposition. By building trusted relationships and delivering great customer experiences, you’ll play an important role in supporting local businesses and communities to thrive.
Working across a defined branch and local market area, you’ll develop connections with business customers, introducers and community networks to identify and progress new business opportunities.
Where you’ll be working
We’re looking for a Local Business Manager for our branch in Glasgow.
This role is a permanent position, working full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Saturday.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll support customers throughout their relationship with Nationwide, from onboarding and everyday servicing to more complex needs, owning the customer journey to ensure good outcomes. By understanding each customer’s ambitions, you’ll deepen relationships, make referrals to other teams where appropriate and help them access the right support to start, run and grow.
You’ll talk to customers about finance where it could help their business and, through our training and accreditation programme, develop the knowledge and confidence to make lending decisions within your delegated authority. We’ll provide training, coaching and ongoing support to help you build your Business Banking expertise, lending knowledge and professional capability. For needs beyond your authority, you’ll connect customers with specialist support and make sure they receive the right follow-up.
You’ll also help branch colleagues build their Business Banking knowledge and confidence so they can recognise when a business customer could benefit from our products and services. In everything you do, you’ll focus on achieving the right outcomes for customers while working accurately, managing risk and meeting conduct and compliance requirements.
About you
As a minimum, you’ll have/be:
- Experience delivering excellent customer outcomes in a customer-focused role within a regulated environment
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships and understand customer needs
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with a wide range of customers and colleagues
- Skilled in identifying customer needs and connecting customers with the most appropriate products, services or support
- Good judgement and decision-making skills, balancing customer outcomes with effective risk management
- Experience managing multiple priorities, customer relationships and follow-up activity in a fast-paced environment
- Proven track record of working accurately and compliantly within regulatory requirements and risk frameworks
- A willingness to learn and develop Business Banking knowledge and capability
