Drive product strategy and execution for global store, inventory, and commerce platforms at Riot Games.
Technical Product Managers combine deep technical knowledge with product leadership to deliver key Riot Games products and experiences that make it better to be a player. Technical Product Managers drive strategic vision across Riot's products and technologies. By leading multidisciplinary teams, they solve complex technical and user-experience challenges to deliver impactful solutions.
As a Principal Technical Product Manager on the Commerce (Store) team, you will own and operate large-scale, distributed services that support millions of Riot players worldwide, enabling them to purchase digital goods such as champions and cosmetics within their favorite games. Working closely with game studios, you’ll help identify and deliver platform solutions that prioritize efficiency, scalability, and reliability for developers, while powering in-game experiences across all of Riot’s titles. Your primary focus will be on Storefront experiences across numerous channels within the Riot ecosystem, as well as the critical inventory fulfillment systems that support them. Your expertise will extend across adjacent Commerce product spaces including inventory, payments, battle pass, loyalty systems, fraud, gifting, and configuration management. You will report to the Director of Technical Product Management of the Commerce team within Publishing Platform.
Responsibilities:
- Define and align product strategy for critical, cross-cutting platform areas, prioritizing outcomes that create measurable value for developers and players
- Bring strategic structure and clarity to Commerce's hardest, most ambiguous initiatives so they're set up for long-term success
- Lead a team of engineers to design, build, and operate critical microservices for managing store, inventory fulfillment, and randomization based systems for Riot’s players and fans
- Partner deeply with engineering leads to ensure platform solutions are robust, scalable, and seamlessly integrated into developer workflows
- Work with teams of experts across the company to design, prototype, build, and ship new features
- Help ensure that your team is consistently executing with excellence
- Be part of a rotational on-call schedule for live product and internal customer support when required
- Work with technical and non-technical customers to understand their requirements and design solutions that fit their needs
- Own and communicate the product vision, mission, strategy, and multi-year roadmap in partnership with other Commerce product leads
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Technical Product Management or a related engineering/technical field
- Experience leading backend engineering teams to design, build, operate, and maintain large scale microservice ecosystems
- Proven ability to operate at a Principal level, navigating organizational complexity to drive outcomes without direct authority
- Strong technical background (CS degree or equivalent experience) sufficient to credibly debate tradeoffs with engineering leads
- Experience translating open-ended or ambiguous technical capabilities into concrete product roadmaps with defined milestones and success metrics
- Track record owning platform, developer-tools, or systems products with internal customers
- Experience integrating agentic AI tooling into product management processes and craft
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience building ecommerce platforms and experiences including payments, fulfillment, fraud, store, inventory, and admin tools
- Experience with global products, regional requirements, privacy, compliance, identity, payments, or other domains with significant operational and regulatory complexity
- Experience designing products for internal technical customers such as game teams, engineers, or platform partners
- Experience working in games, live services, consumer technology, entertainment, or another globally scaled product environment
- Experience creating reusable platform capabilities that reduce duplicated work and improve outcomes across multiple products or business units
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, product management, business, or equivalent practical experience
