Work that Matters

CommBank is a leading provider of integrated financial services, employing more than 52,000 people globally. We’re proud of our iconic brand, scale and diversified business mix.

Marketing and Corporate Affairs is focused on continually driving positive reputation, brand consideration and customer engagement with the Commonwealth Bank. The function has direct responsibility for end-to-end marketing, branding, stakeholder insights, government relations, communications and corporate social responsibility.

This specific role creates content – video, image, and audio – and supports the team as an expert and consult on production.

You will deliver best in class work with an inspired CBAGENCY team that rivals the external agency network in quality, but partners alongside it to create value.

The Candidate

You’re a social-first content creator who loves making things people actually want to watch, share and engage with.

You’re naturally curious about what’s happening on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and emerging platforms, from new formats and creator trends to changes in how brands show up.

You understand that great social content isn’t simply a cut-down of a bigger campaign. You think platform-first, considering the audience, format, hook, pace and context from the start.

You’re comfortable picking up a phone or camera, capturing an idea and turning it into polished content quickly.

You have a good eye for visual storytelling and can create engaging short-form video, stills and simple motion content.

You’re interested in AI and emerging creative technology, and curious about how new tools can make content creation faster, smarter and more creative.

You’re happy experimenting, learning and trying new things and sharing what you discover with the wider team.

You’re collaborative, organised and comfortable working with creatives, producers, designers, marketers and stakeholders.

You pay attention to culture and have a strong instinct for what feels current, relevant and right for the platform.

You’re excited by the opportunity to create social content for one of Australia’s most recognised brands.

On any given day, you will:

  • Create and produce social-first content including short-form video, photography, simple animation and other platform-native formats.
  • Help take ideas from concept through to execution, including scripting, storyboarding, shooting, editing, captioning and delivery.
  • Create content optimised for platforms including TikTok, Instagram Reels and Stories, YouTube Shorts and LinkedIn.
  • Stay across social trends, creators, formats, platform features and emerging behaviours, and bring relevant opportunities back to the team.
  • Bring a creator mindset to briefs, helping identify ways to make ideas feel more natural and engaging within social environments.
  • Produce content quickly when required, while maintaining CommBank brand standards and attention to detail.
  • Work closely with creatives and producers to adapt larger campaigns into effective social executions, as well as developing content specifically for social from the outset.
  • Experiment with AI-enabled creative tools to support ideation, production, editing and content development, within CommBank’s responsible AI and risk frameworks.
  • Help the team test new production techniques, workflows and technology.
  • Contribute ideas, references and inspiration to the broader CBAGENCY team.
  • Learn from more experienced production specialists while continuing to develop your craft across shooting, editing, sound, lighting and post-production.
  • Consider content performance and audience response, using learnings to make future work stronger.

We’d love to hear from people who can talk about their experience in:

  • Around 1–3 years’ experience creating social, digital or video content, whether within an agency, brand, production company, media business or similar environment.
  • A portfolio or examples of work that demonstrate your ability to create engaging social-first content.
  • A strong working knowledge of the major social platforms and an understanding of how content and audience behaviour differs between them.
  • Confident shooting content using smartphones and/or mirrorless cameras.
  • Comfortable editing short-form video using tools such as Premiere Pro, CapCut or similar editing software.
  • Some experience with Adobe Creative Cloud is beneficial; you don’t need to be an expert across every application.
  • An understanding of the basics of lighting, audio, composition and shooting for different social formats.
  • Curiosity about generative AI and emerging creative technology. Experience experimenting with AI tools for ideation, image, video, audio or post-production is highly regarded, but we don’t expect you to know everything already.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate, take feedback and learn.
  • Ability to balance creativity with brand guidelines, accessibility, approvals and the requirements of working within a highly regulated organisation.
  • Understanding and ability to apply the CBA Purpose and Values to effectively deliver outcomes.
  • Risk Mindset – all CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks, and have the ability to identify and manage business risks.

Adapt your resume

  • List these exact terms on your resume: AI Safety, Content Creation, Social Media, Video Editing, and Photography. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
  • Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them — a tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
