Make your mark in Actuarial
Our Actuaries are on the front lines, quantifying risk, pricing insurance and reserving losses for AIG’s major insurance operating companies, globally. We collaborate with Finance, Claims, Operations, Marketing and Risk Management, among other functions. As an AIG actuary, you will be challenged and encouraged to reach your greatest potential to help improve how we predict, manage and mitigate risk.
How you will create an impact
- Define technical provisions for Local and USGAAP.
- Review the reserves level for Insurance and Reinsurance Company for Commercial and Consumer lines products
- Define the risk appetite (retention per risk)
- Review the capital level (current and projection)
- Write Appointed Actuary Report to the regulator commenting the external actuarial audit report
- Support Profitability Studies
- Identify, create and monitor actions plans needed to improve portfolios profitability
- Define Budget Loss Ratio
- Identify and investigate variances to financial plans and forecasts by interpreting financial results
- Analyze IBNR studies to manage loss ratio by products and help each Profit Center to create action plans.
- Perform Actual x Expected (AvE), align with Claims team, identify trends and communicate to leaders any material portfolio deviation
- Perform LTP Studies and Reserves for Latin America (LAC), explain results and communicate with LAC Actuaries
- Support actuarial team with Local Gaap Liability Test Adequacy (TAP) required by Local Regulator for Insurance and Reinsurance Companies
- Create all the financial statements notes related to the actuarial work
- Manage databases to measure performance.
- Ensure accuracy on actuarial databases.
- Handle Brazil regulatory annual activities
- Lead external audit process
- Work close to FP&A, UWs, Product and Reinsurance Teams
What you’ll need to succeed
- Technical reserving experience and portfolio analysis experience
- Pricing experience would be a plus
- Actuarial Bachelor’s degree (MIBA is required)
- Advanced English Skills
- Recognized experience in insurance and reinsurance market in actuarial area
- Ability to dive into technical and execution level details
- Capacity to develop team skills, encourage accountability, manage deadlines and problem-solving
- Programming proficiency (SAS and Python)
