Datapath Responder is a Tier-1 hosting platform used by Detail Page, Search, AmazonAPI, and hundreds of other teams to run their business logic at Amazon scale. As part of the Builder Foundations organization — the core platform behind Amazon's eCommerce business — your work impacts millions of customers across Kindle, Prime, Instant Video, Fulfillment, Alexa, and Amazon's global shopping experience, at a scale few systems anywhere reach: tens of millions of transactions per second
worldwide, spiking higher on Prime Day.

Datapath is the next step of service-oriented architecture. Developers write their logic and deploy it with standard Amazon tooling — and Datapath takes over, deciding how to run it optimally. All the work teams normally pour into making a service operationally viable — host classes, threading models, caching, metrics and monitoring, dependency integration — Datapath automates away, so engineers can focus on the business logic they own. We are looking for talented software engineers
to help drive the next evolution of this platform. It is deep distributed-systems work that is both foundational to Amazon and technically hard in the best way.
As part of the Builder Foundations organization - the core platform behind Amazon’s eCommerce business - your work will impact millions of customers using services like Kindle, Prime, Instant Video, Fulfillment, Alexa, and Amazon’s global online shopping experience.

Key job responsibilities
• Build innovative, scalable systems that empower Amazon developers to create world-class applications with maximum efficiency.
• Develop foundational software that interprets, compiles, and optimizes code for parallel and asynchronous execution with fast, efficient data access.
• Work backward from developer needs, shaping the future of software development at Amazon
• Influencing design, strategy, and underlying technology choices.

Basic qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
