ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our rapidly growing Air Dominance and Strike team in Costa Mesa, CA. In this role, your primary focus will be full-lifecycle PCB design from concept and schematic capture through board bring-up, test, and debug. In this role you'll also be supporting subsystem cable harnessing, hardware integration, and flight-test operations. If you are a hands-on electrical generalist who thrives in a fast-paced environment supporting new developments, active deployments, and mission-critical flight hardware, we are looking for you.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Full cycle PCB design (primary day-to-day focus) including collecting requirements, schematic design, component selection, supervision or completion of layout, bring-up, test, debug, and system integration

  • Conduct bring-up and design work on microcontrollers and microprocessors, ensuring seamless integration within the system

  • Perform power design, including the development, simulation, and integration of discrete power supplies, DC-DC converters, and power management systems

  • Troubleshoot issues that span electrical and software boundaries, utilizing lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMM, logic/spectrum analyzers, electronic loads) and basic software/firmware debugging tools

  • Work in a fast-paced environment supporting new developments, deployments, and customer operated flight hardware

  • Develop payloads and subsystems (sensors, payload interfaces, power management, and networking)

  • Create system interconnect diagrams and define wire harnesses and pinouts that connect electronic equipment within a subsystem

  • Support environmental qualification (vibration, thermal) and flight-test operations

  • Collaborate closely with other electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and test engineers to deliver fully functional, mission-critical products

  • Conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 5+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex system designs

  • Active, hands-on PCB design experience within the last 5 years (schematic capture, layout execution/supervision, and physical board bring-up in the lab)

  • Experience with modern ECAD/EDA design tools (Altium Designer preferred, but open to Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, etc.)

  • Solid foundation in power system design, power loading analysis, and power management systems (DC-DC conversion, transient protection, and power distribution)

  • High competence using lab test equipment (benchtop power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, DMM, logic/spectrum analyzers, etc.) and basic board-level rework/soldering tools

  • Hands-on experience with microcontrollers and digital interfaces (CAN, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, RS232/422, RS485, USB)

  • Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics, mixed-signal board design, grounding topologies, and filtering/EMI mitigation

  • Understanding of low-voltage and high-voltage power electronics and control systems to drive cable harness designs and connector selections

  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. security clearance

  • Exceptional organization and communication skills (both written and oral)

  • Open to candidates from fast-paced, high-reliability adjacent industries (Electric Vehicles / Automotive, Medical Devices, Autonomous Systems, or complex Consumer Electronics)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Specialized background in discrete power supply design (high-efficiency topologies, switching regulators, battery management systems)

  • Background in defense, missile systems, hypersonics, or aerospace avionics

  • Comprehensive understanding of the effects of temperature, shock, and vibration on electrical packaging and designs

  • Ability to develop basic low-level firmware or test scripts (C, Python) for hardware bring-up and peripheral validation

Questions you could be asked

  1. Walk me through a computer vision problem you solved, from raw data to a deployed model.
  2. Tell me about a project where pcb design was part of your work. What did you do?
  3. Tell me about a project where hardware integration was part of your work. What did you do?
  4. Tell me about a project where electrical engineering was part of your work. What did you do?
  5. Tell me about a project where embedded systems was part of your work. What did you do?

Adapt your resume

  • List these exact terms on your resume: Computer vision, Pcb Design, Hardware Integration, Electrical Engineering, and Embedded Systems. An applicant tracking system matches the wording, not the idea.
  • Attach one line of real, concrete experience to at least one of them. A tool named with nothing behind it rarely survives a human read.
