Senior Manager, Senior Counsel - Network Marketing, Brand, and Communications

The Capital One Legal Department is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and business-minded attorney to join our growing Global Payment Network Legal team. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our Network Marketing, Brand, and Communications teams.

About the Role:

The Senior Manager, Senior Counsel role will be primarily responsible for managing legal review of initiatives driven by the Network Marketing, Brand, and Communications teams. In this role, you will:

• Provide strategic, risk-adjusted counsel to Network Marketing, Brand, and Communications teams
• Design and drive review process improvements that increase agility without compromising governance
• Act as an embedded business partner with a “one team” mindset
• Partner cross-functionally with Legal colleagues across the enterprise
• Direct and manage outside counsel on specialized or complex matters

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Ability to understand complex topics quickly with depth that allows for concise and simple advice
• Problem solving mentality rather than thinking only like a legal technician

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence others and write concisely

Basic Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
• Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
• At least 6 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm environment, at a government agency, as a military judge advocate, or as in-house counsel

Preferred Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience as an attorney in a law firm environment, at a government agency, as a military judge advocate, or as in-house counsel
• 3+ years experience providing legal advice to marketing, brand, and communications teams
• Experience within the payment card or payments industry

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
